Yes Jesus was called Son of Man and so was Prophet Ezekiel, Daniel and the other prophets. Son of Man is a term for a prophet. If you do your research with serious biblical scholarship you will learn that when Jesus spoke about the Son of Man he was also talking about the one to come that was not himself.

According to the 150 biblical scholars at the Jesus Seminar, the phrase "son of man" (or "son of Adam") sometimes refers to a heavenly figure that is to come, but when Jesus uses this phrase he is not referring to himself.[7]

Renowned Dead Sea Scrolls Scholar, Geza Vermes said the same.

The Torah is clear that the Son of Man is not God. In Numbers 23:19 God is not man to be capricious, or mortal to change his mind. Would he speak and not act, Promise and not fulfill. In other words God doesn't act like man that thinks he is mortal. In the Aramaic text it as follows:

God is not a man that he should lie: nor the Son of Man that he should be given counsel; he speaks and he shall do it, and his word abides forever. The above does clarify the position and it is clear in the above passage that the Son of Man is not God because the Son of Man receives counsel from God. The title Son of Man is also a title given to the prophets. As we know Prophet Ezekiel was also called Son of Man and in the Aramaic text Daniel is called Son of Man as well.

He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. Revelation 21:7 . Matthew chapter 24 gives an excellent outline for understanding the signs of the end times and the timeline.

The Paraclete that is also the Son of Man. "So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? Matt 24:44-45

The parable of the net in the book of Matthew is also a great play on words with the word internet and Jesus knew that people would not be happy when the Paraclete came with the Holy Angels to throw the bad fish away. Jesus predicted that there would be weeping and gnashing of teeth from the orthodox in the end times of the end of the age. Matthew 13:47-52
