In fact, there is also information to suggest that it was a term used to slander those who opposed national socialism in Germany (the exact opposite). NAZI is for NAtional ZIonist I believe, I feel it´s been turned around by the victors (allies) in history. Nearly everyone here in Germany thinks NAZI stands for National Socialist, they screwed history well.

NASO is for NAtional SOcialist (a follower of the "nationale deutsche arbeiterpartei" NSDAP)

If this were true (and it is an intriguing thought), then one could easily state that a National Zionist would push for a restoration of a Jewish Nation-State, such as what was pushed for in the Balfour Declaration of 1917 (a full 20 years prior to the Holocaust) in a formal statement by the British government in a written letter to (tada) Walter Rothschild (a leader of the British Jewish Community) as is documented in historical record (you can find it at the British Library). The information you presented is not definitive and frankly it is no longer the "accepted" origin of the term. The "accepted" origin is that it is short for the word "National" (leaving the socialist part out). Though even this is not definitive.

Nationalsozialistische:

Na-tsee-oh-nael = Na + tsee = Nazi.

And my school text books here in America never mentioned that there was an on-going attempt to establish a Jewish State prior to the Second World War. I don't understand why these hateful sheep that love to throw labels around (such as Neo Nazi, or whatever) as soon as someone does some historical research ON THEIR OWN are so quick to squash FREE THOUGHT. You'd think if someone really cared about that portion of history not being repeated they would encourage free thought, historical research, and discussion on all aspects of that point in history in order to better educate the people of this planet about war, past ideologies, and important historical events.
