Prime example of what shrooms or acid will do to you. Similar story from someone I know also... At least the alien rape thing (course I think the more likely scenario is some gay red-neck alabamians). Dunno, didn't happen to me.

I can't come close to that, I probably saw them, on average, once a year btween 1974 and 1985. Lot's of people saw them many times per year.

I've been listening to this thread all day at work. Some of my co-workers are sick of it, but I don't care.

I was lucky enough to have an older brother who was a sold out Dead Head, willing to take his little sister along on the groove. He called the girls in the Dead Office so often begging tickets, he finally became their friend. We ended up getting a lot of great comp tickets over the years, backstage passes, after parties, etc.

The 70's were a non-stop tour. I had a day job, so Bro handled all the logistics. I'd just pour myself into the next car or airplane, and off we'd go. Then I'd pour myself back into the office chair a day or three later. Whooot!

Those were such great days. Now that I'm old, I wonder at how I even survived.

Some of the highlight shows for me were

the Harmonic Convergence show in Telluride
the Bob Marley memorial jam in Jamaica, Thanksgiving '82

My favorite Grateful Dead performance was when I lucked into Kezar Stadium as a 17 year old in 1975 while visiting my sister in San Rafael. That was the year they didn't tour. They did a half hour set featuring Blues For Allah=Stronger Than Dirt=Milking The Turkey.(I was drowning in turkey milk that day as everyone was milkin the turkey)I was front and center. The day long concert finished with Bob Dylan, half of The Band and Neil Young jamming.

Saw Gov't Mule last night at the Beacon in NYC. David Hildago guested in the second set. After the first encore, the house lights didn't come up. Lots of people left.Then Warren and The Mule came out and did a ripping version of "Woodstock". Sweet!!
