rb User ID: 854809 United States 01/04/2010 02:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | hi I was real slow adapting to os x -- I liked managing my own files in os 9 with x the mac just kind of wanted to take over which raised up my stubborn resistance. for years I fought, trying to make the mac do things my way finally I surrendered to the mac world and let it do its thing. having much more hard drive space has really helped. and backup drives. as a result I've got multiple photos, songs etc stored all over the place buried deep and tough to manage. it's frustrating but I haven't lost any data in years and years and years :-) I'm trying some apps to get rid of duplicates :-) now I know this doesn't answer your specific questions. I guess what I'm trying to say is when I did surrender and let mac do it's thing it freed me up to enjoy my computer instead of worrying so much. by the time iPhone came out I was surrendered -- and rather than carping too much about what it couldn't do I have instead enjoyed it immensely the mac world isn't perfect but for me it's the best thing going. since surrendering I have very few problems. me trying to manipulate and make mac do things my way equals lost data. me surrendering equals redundancy but I can live with that :-) hey as for photo res this is a cool era -- in the future we'll look back at these primitive photos and see them as charming and quaint -- kind of like pics from the 1800s or something. this era will pass as things continue to progress. the iPhone is not a flash media storage device solely it is a computer and functions as a mac. I understand your frustration but as was pointed out flash storage devices are cheap. I use those for what they're good for and my iPhone for what it's good for. I fully understand your frustration -- I repeat I've been much happier since I just surrendered and let mac do its thing. peace rb |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 657905 United States 01/04/2010 02:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to give me a rundown and possibly lead me in the right direction Quoting: Anonymous Coward 856674iPhone is amazing but it is lacking some key elements that truly makes a flawless device. This is what I want: Drag and drop file access via USB or bluetooth. Mainly for photos. Would like it to be as simple as a USB flash drive. Synching photos in iTunes greatly reduces size and resolution. I dont want to email photos to the camera roll, ffs. The ability to download any file on iPhone and then transfer via Bluetooth or USB. Should be so easy. Can anyone help me here? Also, where the F is the crossfade for music? Should I just jailbreak it? If I did could someone guide me through it? Will jailbreaking it cause problems with the device or warranty? Can you easily go back to factory settings after you unlock it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks I too salivated over the iPhone and all its coolness, all the while overlooking its flaws. But they were there ... nagging me. Then, lo and behold comes the Droid from Google/Verizon. Everything the iPhone is and all that it isn't. The community is small right now, compared to the iPhone, but that's going to change swiftly over the next year. Honestly, now that I've had mine a few months, I PREFER it to every other device on which I work -- computer, laptop, iPhone, etc. I wish I could plug a keyboard and monitor into the thing and just run it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 801517drag n drop's the lingo for how you move stuff around on a computer. u know you click a file, drag it to a folder or device, 'drop' it in by letting it go. got it? Oh ok, thanks! I don't have a computer. My Nokia can do all that though. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 856674Drag and drop file access via USB or bluetooth... here ya go OP... XPlay 3 does what your looking for. makes your iphone, touch or pod appear like an extra drive on your system. open that drive and you can brows it's file structure just like windows folders... here's the rundown... [link to www.mediafour.com] here's the download for the trial... [link to www.mediafour.com] 3 things i REALLY dig about it * once installed, there's no new software or browser to learn. it just detects your apple device and assigns it a drive letter like any other usb drive. * it runs supper lite therefore FAST like a usb. since there's no browser or other software to navigate (like slow ass itunes) you won't even notice you installed it. * did i say it's easy and FAST???? all you'll need is your iphone/pod usb cable. (you do not have to uninstall itunes which is nice. you may want to change tunes from being the auto loading ware when the phone get detected.) me, i have my pc set so only xplay loads when i plug in. most of the time i only plug in to charge. but i transfer junk more than dl stuff from tunes... |
