Local Law Enforcement to be issued Homeland Security Badges?
I know. It's happening to me. I work for a small department in the midwest. By small I mean greater than ten, and smaller than one hundred.

I went into work tonight, and found in my mailbox 2 three page applications.

The first page has general personal information, the type of stuff found on a Driver's License.

The second page has medical questions on it, a lot of things I found totally unneccessary, and intrusive.

The third page wanted you to list "specialties" and "qualifications."

This was never discussed with us. The forms just appeared, and a memo was posted giving a general explanation. It basically said that we were getting these "badges" and the info we provided would be encoded into a magnetic strip, the contents of which could only be accessed by personnel who were in possession of an authorized scanner (whoever that would be was not addressed).

The reason for the cards was justified by saying that first responders, in the event of an "incident" or "catastrophe" (also not explained) would need these "badges" to be allowed on site.

When I asked a Deputy about it, he had never heard about it. When I showed him, we proceeded to wonder why this was happening.

I'd never heard of this, and can't find any media coverage of similar events happening elsewhere. Has anyone else heard anything? I'd kinda like to have the option of seeking other employment, in case the mandatory rectal probes get underway.

I will not post copies of the memos, and nothing stated that this was "secret" information. I actually found a copy of the forms on the internet. Just to be on the safe side though, I am not, and never will be suicidal, and if I am found and labeled to be such, it is a lie. CYA and all.....

God bless.

Do tou see "FEMA" or "NIMS" on the paperwork?
I take it you work inside the office?
You will be part of the National Incident Management Response.
All citizens will and currently are being put into the national database. We will be getting national ID cards in the future with biometric data included.

And I wonder if the sheriff can deputize all peace loving patriots in a county to enforce constitutional freedoms and rights. Wouldn't that be good if that happened in every state and every county.

No, there was no letterhead of any kind on it. I seemed very generic, which we thought was really strange. It said something about "Resource Manager" at the top. In my opinion, it looked as though it was downloaded from the internet.

I remember that we DID take some online NIMS "training" from FEMA (Freakin Evil Mercenary Agency.) I wonder if we've taken any money from them. If so I guess it's possible that we would be "indebted" to them in some way.

I don't want to speculate about anything at this point, because I don't want to "scare" anyone, but this is not normal to me in any way whatsoever. I will keep you posted, and if or when we get these "badges" I will scan a modified image for you, or describe it in great detail.

If anyone else hears anything more about this, please return here and post. I'd appreciate it.

As a footnote, I really haven't seen a problem with a "National ID card." I've already got a driver's license and passport, and I don't think that the information for those is too terribly intrusive. The questions asked on these forms were very personal at times, and made me uncomfortable. This also seems like a step in the direction of Nationalization.

As productive and mature as your proposal is, if I deputized you, and you tased my anus (or any other part) you would be violating policy. I'm afraid you'd probably lose your deputy status very quickly, and might face civil or criminal litigation, so hopefully we can find a nice happy-medium. Maybe you just quickly spray me with OC or something. Let's talk about it later, friend.

I got one of these forms yesterday. I work for the county medical examiner here in Chicago. I just filled it out and returned it to the human resources department.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I understand the "reason" behind this, but did you hear anything about this before it happened? We were kind of broadsided by it, and it happened very suddenly. On it's face, I guess it isn't really ominous, but the timing, suddenness, and lack of reporting about it is kind of leaving us scratching our heads. Is anyone around discussing it, or heard anything else? Thanks.

Wow. Great to see all of the concern and discussion. Here's something happening right now that could possibly be the beginning of something bigger, and no one cares. I guess it's not a joke when the disclaimer says "entertainment purposes". What, with all of the more important topics talking about "bitchez" and such, I guess I can't blame you. Good luck people--you might need it.

I believe its part of NIMS/FEMA training which will in fact deputize local law enforcement to respond to a big event.
All citizens will be required in the future to carry a national ID card which will be tied into a national law enforcement database.

But in fact it will be bigger than that. The national ID caed will be the excuse to go even further into a super database where we will become part of the surveillance society. RFID chips will be implanted at this stage. Freedom will be a thing of the past...

Had a 2 day training last year. this sounds like what your department might be getting:

[link to www.salamandertechnologies.com]

Salamander Technologies' Accountability Solutions provide agencies nationwide with a fully interoperable emergency incident command structure based upon NIMS operating procedures. Mutual Aid need only to arrive on-scene with the interTRAX barcoded ID Tag - whether it is a standard clip-on "dog" tag, a velcro "PASport", or a plastic hard card. A interTRAX barcoded ID tag contains agency specifics, personnel info, rank, qualifications, and vital medical data. Currently, more than 3,000 agencies nationwide are able to work together in this way.

on a side note, did they ask for a fee? If so, it could be a scam?

It is NO scam, I assure you. There was no "fee" mentioned either.

Coincidently enough, I did some searching today. I found EXACT copies of the forms, available online for anyone to see/download. I'm guessing it's not a state secret or anything, so "them" coming to my house doesn't seem like a real possibility. To quote David Banner, they "wouldn't like me when I'm angry" anyway.

I'm kind of anxious to hear other people who have seen or heard of this. Medical person in Chicago? what did your forms say, or ask you for?
