Supernova May Destroy Earth.
A STAR is primed to explode in a blast that could wipe out the Earth, according to American astronomers.

A new study shows the star, called T Pyxidis, is much closer than previously thought at 3,260 light-years away - a short hop in galactic terms.

It is set to self-destruct in an explosion called a supernova with the force of 20 billion billion billion megatons of TNT.

Wow, very interesting thanks for sharing. I kept thinking pixy dust when I read the stars name, but it doesn't sound like it would be good if this goes.

Hmm, 3,260 light-years away

Ok, bring it on, we might not be around a couple of thousand years from now

OH BROTHER. This is shit. a star going nova 3260 light years away will send maybe a smattering of gamma rays this direction. NO BIGGY DEAL. the 20 billion, billion, billion megatons of TNT is a lousy fear inducing statement. For shame on them and for shame on anyone believing this bull shit.

Well, I think the force they are claiming is somewhat near accurate, but here I shudder to think i am agreeing with you Candace on a point.

you are right about it's distance, although it may explode with such force, the distance is to great for it to really cause much harm in my opinion. hiding

Re: Supernova May Destroy Earth.
Even if it did unleash fatal levels of radiation, shockwaves, etc. it would take more than 3,000 years to reach us.
There are more important things to worry about between now and then.
