Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 857637 Australia 01/10/2010 06:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No,just someone of common sense and very practical thinking. Airports scanners around the world for US flights only? Huffington post trashing big banks for 8 days straight and telling everyone to get their money out? Some big shit is going down in America that looks like its about to get real bad. No nation is going to want to be seen supporting those in power in the USA, or they will risk revolution at home, not to mention suffer the rath when constitutionist take back there country. Calling China a threat to Australia is beyond laughable. To even invade Australia they would have to go to war with both south korea and japan, britian, more than likely russia and every country in the world that has a stake in Australian business (india, etc..). To get there armies here they would have to go through the phillipines, taiwan, indonesia, papua new guinea, half of south east asia, etc... which is virtual impossible, Australia is one of the best protected geographically countries in the world, and Chinas navy of fishing boats simply wouldnt be able to acheive something the great Japanese empire couldnt even do. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 848282the USA will soon go bust so it makes sense to do business with someone who will be able to pay its debts USA goes bust, China goes bust. D'oh! No, the whole world still buys goods from China, I dont think anything in Australia is made in the US. Expect for JD and Johnny Walker of course. |

If China decided to inade Australia I have little doubt that we would be left to our own devices, and rapidly overrun by sheer weight of numbers. At any rate the Chinese don't need to invade anyway, we welcome them in with open arms. |

[link to www.naval-technology.com] Quoting: Anonymous Coward 848282I call them Russian boats, you fool. The Chinese have 2 of them, and are ordering 2 more. wow. The vast majority of chinas 200+ navy boats are called 'patrol boats' because thats about all they do. They are no longer than 10 metres long. The size of your average fishing boat. The US loves nothing more than to sensationalize wanted foes, 'al qaeda', 'iraq'. Dont get me wrong, China has an extremely powerful military. But to assume other Asian nations would allow China to watlz right by and flank them on both sides is hilarious. China has a major hicup with projecting their might over water. |

What you have to say about that huh? Nukes are obsolete. If anyone uses them they get destroyed by every other nuke power on earth. Australia has had nukes since the 70's (we dont have nuclear reactors yet no nulear power for a reason, duh), like south africa, we arent as stupid as israel to build nuclear plants everywhere and attract suspicion. If I had anything to say? I would say you seriously need to study geography, international realations, read the art of war and research military strategy and warfare history, then maybe you will realise why you are off with the butterflies and your fishing boats are still fishing boats with or without nukes. |

Opened by the Prime Minister in 2007, OPAL is one of a small number of reactors with the capacity for the commercial production of radioisotopes. This capacity, combined with the open pool design and operating utility, places OPAL among the best research reactors in the world. While OPAL is the centrepiece of ANSTO's research facilities, the suite of neutron beam instruments housed next to the reactor building represent a significant addition to ANSTO's research capabilities. |
