Fletch User ID: 824929 United States 01/11/2010 02:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | why would it need to subliminally adverise? it's the biggest national retailer. I know now you'll say "THAT'S EXACTLY WHY" but....people will go there no matter what. It's cheap, people don't care about quality any more, and you can get everything you need in one car trip: clothes, groceries, dvd, household shit. |

Quoting: FletchWhy would they need to adverise period? Did you listen to the commercial? It tells you you can get high shopping at walmart. I never said the subliminal messages were to get people to shop at walmart MORE. There's something else here Last Edited by zombieintraining on 01/11/2010 02:10 AM |

Kaosofik User ID: 861697 United States 01/11/2010 02:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | what are the chances of the narrator have ever gotten "high"? or the person responsible for the idea. Quoting: hotpinkrocks81Probably very likely. A lot of people who work in marketing and advertising are cokeheads. Lol So you're saying they want all the coke heads to apply at Walmart? There are plenty of them there already whether associates or customers. People get high and go to Walmart all the time. Last Edited by Kaosofik Gnostik on 01/11/2010 02:26 AM Tat Tvam Asi |

Walmarts commercial says you get a "secret high from stretching a dollar". If you don't read between the lines, then never mind. It's not about getting high on actual drugs. Duh. Omg, do I have to spell this one out? |

I guess this commercial seems normal to everyone?!? The messages are not about walmart itself as a company, no body else sees it? If so, I'm just gonna let this thread die, it's just gonna make me look crazy, and I'm not falling into that trap tonight. My insomnia is alive and kicking. I have to wake up in 3 hrs, but I'm wide awake, like it's 243 pm, not am. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 761652 United States 01/11/2010 02:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the one where the kids are playing monopoly and the little brother sucks at it so the big sister gives him some of her money and the mom is so proud (gag) as if walmart had shit to do with that moment except perhaps selling them the lead-tainted monopoly set. |
hotpinkrocks81 (OP) User ID: 839757 United States 01/11/2010 11:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I see your point, OP. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 861725Shopping is not for thrill seekers, but this commercial's got me convinced I'll be stoked for the next time I can get to a walmart Exactly! Like as if our angst and suffering from the collapsing economy can be turned around by "secretly" making a dollar stretch?!?! This commercial is disturbing on many many levels. Notice the way each person looks directly into the camera and smirks or give a sympathetic, "I know what you're going through"-look. It's just creepy. They even get the baby to look towards the camera and give "the look". I studied film in college, so I'm very in tune with "style" of movies, tv and commercials. |
