Quoting: BugeaterWhy would anyone who doesn't know God presume to know what God would or wouldn't do? Because when God executes punishment he is discriminating about who he punishes. An earthquake is not discriminating. He warned Noah about the flood and how to get out and he warned those in Sodom and Gamorrah also. |

Robertson's comment was of course, inappropriate coming so soon after the quake, but in FACT, much of Haiti was/is practitioners of voodoo and witchcraft. |

Yeah, I'd like to know where that came from, too. All day yesterday on KLOVE (Christian radio station) they were praying for Haiti and telling where to donate money. Michael W. Smith was on there talking about it...he may have said he was heading down there or something. And they were talking about another Christian singer who was there during the earthquake at an orphanage. A lot of people don't realize the one we follow isn't Pat Robertson....it's Jesus. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 822427I cringe every time I hear pseudo-God assumption talk. Just because a document was written years or centuries ago does not qualify it to contain information that are absolutes. Humans centuries ago wrote our equiv. of SyFy back then just as we do today. Stories are fun. I see no difference between someone claiming God cursed or killed anyone and my golden retreiver carrying around a pair of socks in her mouth thinking it to please me, impress me, or satisfy something or someone. |

These religious fuckers are insane! Literally! Trying to find the link. Quoting: SumoIn a sense, both facts are true. I have been to Haiti and seen firsthand the strange blend of African voodoo with Roman Catholicism. Most Haitians would answer 'yes' to both religions. However, that is no reason to withhold aid from these desperately needy people in the middle of this catastrophe. Christians should see this as an opportunity to demonstrate God's love and grace to a people powerfully short on both. Haitians have a saying, "God gives but He does not share" meaning God often gives greatly to a person or group expecting them to share with their neighbors. Haitians only have to look a few miles to the north to see a neighbor who has been given much; it is my hope that every American would do their part by sharing from their abundance. |
