Cass Sunstein

In a lengthy academic paper, President Obama's regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein, argued the U.S. government should ban "conspiracy theorizing."

Among the beliefs Sunstein would ban is advocating that the theory of global warming is a deliberate fraud.

Sunstein also recommended the government send agents to infiltrate "extremists who supply conspiracy theories" to disrupt the efforts of the "extremists" to propagate their theories.

In a 2008 Harvard law paper, "Conspiracy Theories," Sunstein and co-author Adrian Vermeule, a Harvard law professor, ask, "What can government do about conspiracy theories?"

"We can readily imagine a series of possible responses. (1) Government might ban conspiracy theorizing. (2) Government might impose some kind of tax, financial or otherwise, on those who disseminate such theories."

In the 30-page paper – obtained and reviewed by WND – Sunstein argues the best government response to "conspiracy theories" is "cognitive infiltration of extremist groups."

Continued Sunstein: "We suggest a distinctive tactic for breaking up the hard core of extremists who supply conspiracy theories: cognitive infiltration of extremist groups, whereby government agents or their allies (acting either virtually or in real space, and either openly or anonymously) will undermine the crippled epistemology of believers by planting doubts about the theories and stylized facts that circulate within such groups, thereby introducing beneficial cognitive diversity."

Read more about Cass Sunstein's agenda in "Shut Up, America!: The End of Free Speech"

Sunstein said government agents "might enter chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine percolating conspiracy theories by raising doubts about their factual premises, causal logic or implications for political action."

Sunstein defined a conspiracy theory as "an effort to explain some event or practice by reference to the machinations of powerful people, who have also managed to conceal their role."

Some "conspiracy theories" recommended for ban by Sunstein include:

* "The theory of global warming is a deliberate fraud."

* "The view that the Central Intelligence Agency was responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy."

* "The 1996 crash of TWA flight 800 was caused by a U.S. military missile."

* "The Trilateral Commission is responsible for important movements of the international economy."

* "That Martin Luther King Jr. was killed by federal agents."

* "The moon landing was staged and never actually occurred."

Sunstein allowed that "some conspiracy theories, under our definition, have turned out to be true."

He continued: "The Watergate hotel room used by Democratic National Committee was, in fact, bugged by Republican officials, operating at the behest of the White House. In the 1950s, the CIA did, in fact, administer LSD and related drugs under Project MKULTRA, in an effort to investigate the possibility of 'mind control.'”

Sunstein's paper advocating against the belief that global warming is a deliberate fraud was written before November's climate scandal in which e-mails hacked from the Climatic Research Unit at East Anglia University in the U.K. indicate top climate researchers conspired to rig data and keep researchers with dissenting views from publishing in leading scientific journals.

Sunstein: Ban 'right wing' rumors

Sunstein's paper is not the first time he has advocated banning the free flow of information.

WND reported that in a recently released book, "On Rumors," Sunstein argued websites should be obliged to remove "false rumors" while libel laws should be altered to make it easier to sue for spreading such "rumors."

In the 2009 book, Sunstein cited as a primary example of "absurd" and "hateful" remarks, reports by "right-wing websites" alleging an association between President Obama and Weatherman terrorist William Ayers.

He also singled out radio talker Sean Hannity for "attacking" Obama regarding the president's "alleged associations."

Ayers became a name in the 2008 presidential campaign when it was disclosed he worked closely with Obama for years. Obama also was said to have launched his political career at a 1995 fundraiser in Ayers' apartment.

'New Deal Fairness Doctrine'

WND also previously reported Sunstein drew up a "First Amendment New Deal" – a new "Fairness Doctrine" that would include the establishment of a panel of "nonpartisan experts" to ensure "diversity of view" on the airwaves.

Sunstein compared the need for the government to regulate broadcasting to the moral obligation the U.S. had to impose new rules that outlawed segregation.

Sunstein's radical proposal, set forth in his 1993 book "The Partial Constitution," received no news media attention and scant scrutiny until the WND report.

In the book, Sunstein outwardly favors and promotes the "Fairness Doctrine," the abolished FCC policy that required holders of broadcast licenses to present controversial issues of public importance in a manner the government deemed "equitable and balanced."

Sunstein introduces what he terms his "First Amendment New Deal" to regulate broadcasting in the U.S.

His proposal, which focuses largely on television, includes a government requirement that "purely commercial stations provide financial subsidies to public television or to commercial stations that agree to provide less profitable but high-quality programming."

Sunstein wrote it is "worthwhile to consider more dramatic approaches as well."

He proposes "compulsory public-affairs programming, right of reply, content review by nonpartisan experts or guidelines to encourage attention to public issues and diversity of view."

The Obama czar argues his regulation proposals for broadcasting are actually presented within the spirit of the Constitution.

"It seems quite possible that a law that contained regulatory remedies would promote rather than undermine the 'freedom of speech,'" he writes.

Writes Sunstein: "The idea that government should be neutral among all forms of speech seems right in the abstract, but as frequently applied it is no more plausible than the idea that it should be neutral between the associational interests of blacks and those of whites under conditions of segregation."

Sunstein contends the landmark case that brought about the Fairness Doctrine, Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. Federal Communications Commission, "stresses not the autonomy of broadcasters (made possible only by current ownership rights), but instead the need to promote democratic self-government by ensuring that people are presented with a broad range of views about public issues."

He continues: "In a market system, this goal may be compromised. It is hardly clear that 'the freedom of speech' is promoted by a regime in which people are permitted to speak only if other people are willing to pay enough to allow them to be heard."

In his book, Sunstein slams the U.S. courts' unwillingness to "require something like a Fairness Doctrine" to be a result of "the judiciary's lack of democratic pedigree, lack of fact-finding powers and limited remedial authority."

He clarifies he is not arguing the government should be free to regulate broadcasting however it chooses.

"Regulation designed to eliminate a particular viewpoint would of course be out of bounds. All viewpoint discrimination would be banned," Sunstein writes.

But, he says, "at the very least, regulative 'fairness doctrines' would raise no real doubts" constitutionally.

Siegel Identifies Chicago Nazis Posner and Sunstein as Obama's Mentors

August 12, 2009 (LPAC)—In his attack on the President's euthanasia, Lee Siegel asks, "Where is Obama coming from? Why is such an apparently humane man considering embracing a utilitarian initiative straight out of Victorian England?"

In answer he adverts to Obama's career as a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, then and after associated with that University's Nazi-like power elite:

"A good part of the explanation has to do with the University of Chicago Law School milieu that Obama comes out of. By far, the most influential figure in that world is [Federal] Judge Richard Posner, who teaches law at Chicago and publishes streams of pompous, robotically written books that are much

"Judge Posner is both an enthusiastic advocate of euthanasia and an energetic eugenicist. He once wrote of Oliver Wendell Holmes' ideas about eugenics — Holmes believed that a just society 'prevents continuance of the unfit' — that 'we may yet find [Holmes'] enthusiasms prescient rather than depraved.'

"Cass Sunstein, who is Obama's nominee for regulatory czar, is a disciple of Posner and believes in what Time magazine describes as 'the statistical practice of taking into account years of life expectancy when evaluating a regulation.' In other words, Sunstein believes that the lives of younger people have a greater value than those of the elderly. This, obviously, would have a radical bearing on end-of-life considerations."

Richard Posner is an apostle of Friedrich Nietzsche, and biographer of the eugenics fanatic Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, whom Posner has lauded as "the American Nietzsche." A seminal figure in the recent decades' distortion of law to fit imperial finance, Mont Pelerin Society member Posner notoriously recommended the free-market sale of babies to replace traditional adoption procedures, drug legalization, and the complete abandonment of what he condemns as "moral philosophy" in using law to enforce the power of the rulers of society.

"Behavioralist" Cass Sunstein is one of Posner's adoring circle of euthanasia advocates at the University. Obama's nomination of Sunstein as U.S. regulatory czar will be pushed onto the Senate floor for confirmation when Congress comes back from recess September 8th. If confirmed, Sunstein would be positioned to help enforce the euthanasia he promotes.

Maybe now the so called 'conspiracy theorists' can have a mainstream voice. Maybe it'll be noticed that there are probably more of them than previously thought and perhaps this could be the unifying cause under which all could unite.

Perhaps this will enable some people to be martyred for their theories - martyrs are very powerful for causes. Sounds like "check" .... but still a long way from "mate"

Just thinking out loud really. This sounds like an amazing idea, look forward to seeing how it plays out.

Degenerates Surround A Nero-Like President; Who Controls Them?

April 10, 2009 (LPAC)-- TIME Magazine's explosive revelations of April 2, which LaRouchePAC has expanded-on, have still more far-reaching implications for history and this Presidency. TIME exposed that Obama is totally surrounded by a ring of advisors and officials who are members of a kookish cult of "behavioral economics," including the President's long-time friend Cass Sunstein, along with Richard Thaler, Daniel Ariely, and Daniel Kahneman. White House OMB director Peter Orszag is another believer. "His deputy, Jeff Liebman of Harvard, is a noted behavioral economist, as are White House economic advisor Austan Goolsbee of the University of Chicago, Assistant Treasury Secretary nominee Alan Krueger of Princeton, and several other key aides. Sunstein has been nominated to be Obama's regulatory czar. Even National Economic Council director Larry Summers has done work on behavioral finance. And Harvard economist Sendhil Mullathainan is organizing an outside network of behavioral experts to provide the Administration with policy ideas," TIME reported.

The movement's founder was Daniel Kahneman, a French Jew born in 1934, whose family fled to Palestine during the war. In Israel he got a BA in psychology, and then worked as a psychologist in the Israeli army, picking up fellow-Israeli Amos Tversky as a research partner. Kahneman wrote that he was inspired by brainwasher-psychologist Kurt Lewin's concept of the "psychological field" which motivates people from outside. But this is not yet precisely to the point of the main issue.

Although Kahneman and Tversky were often met with scorn and ridicule, they published paper after paper over the decades, beginning in 1969. On the surface level, every successive paper made the same point, even though Kahneman always denied it was their point, namely: that people are irrational. Through questionnaire after questionnaire, the pair would prove that people's "choices" were regularly irrational, as Kahneman and Twersky define reason. Hence the book of their follower, Daniel Ariely of MIT, "Predictably Irrational." Note by the way, that this Ariely, another Israeli emigre, has made himself a "pain and pleasure suit, to measure how we combine pain (caused by extreme hot or cold temperature) in one part of our body, and pleasure in another..."

But this irrationality is not yet the real story either. What is really going on? Here is one of Kahneman's questionnaires: You must deal with a public health epidemic threatening 600 people. First question: One course of action would save 200. The other has a one-third chance of saving 600, and a two-thirds chance of saving none. Which would you choose? Second question: One course of action action will result in 400 deaths; the other has a two-thirds chance of 600 deaths and a one-third chance of no deaths. Which would you choose?

Now it's obvious: the real point is not the trivial nonsense of comparing probabilities as Kahneman tries to pretend. The real objective is the dehumanization, rather bestialization involved in submitting to such questions at all. This is the theme of the movie "Sophie's Choice," about the mother forced by a sadistic SS officer to choose which of her children she will sacrifice to him. This from Kahneman, who fled from the Holocaust; there is probably more to be learned about that story.

And speaking of bestial questions: Dan Ariely and George Loewenstein wrote a paper on "The Heat of the Moment: The Effect of Sexual Arousal on Sexual Decision Making." Male college students were asked questions about sex-related subjects, and their answers were compared before and while masturbating.

Turn to fellow-cultist Cass Sunstein, a longtime Obama friend, now a prospective White House nominee married to Obama National Security Council official Samantha Power. Sunstein is an animal-rights cultist as well. He quotes Kant, Bentham and John Stuart Mill that animals have human-like rights. Animals should be able to bring suit in court, through human lawyers, against violations of these rights. He wrote, "I believe that in the long run, our willingness to subject animals to unjust suffering will be seen as a form of unconscionable barbarity, not the same as, but in many ways morally akin to slavery and mass extermination of human beings." Lyndon LaRouche responded: he means go for slavery and mass extermination, since we're already doing the equivalent to animals. Animal rights? Picture lines of pigs wearing swastika brossards on their arms.

This is the bestiality, the degeneracy, of the circles of Bentham and Shelburne, as Sunstein himself advertises that connection. The Nero-President has surrounded himself with a horde of degenerates, as the original Nero did. Nero began this involuntarily from boyhood, but then, later, deliberately, as he turned against and killed every advisor and associate with a shred of morality, replacing them with degenerates, generally freedmen and often eunuchs, included newly-minted ones.

But where do they all get their orders? From Obama? No! To continue the story of Kahneman and Tversky: they labored on amidst much ridicule until the early 1980s, when the two big foundations, Russell Sage and Alfred P. Sloan, decided to begin spending millions to meld the group of Israeli psychologists with largely American economists. Their money swept everything before it. Kahneman and Tversky eventually shared a Nobel prize.

As earlier LaRouchePAC reports document, TIME magazine reported that a long stream of written orders or recommendations flowed into the Obama campaign, and later Presidency, from "the Consortium of Behavioral Scientists, a secret advisory group of 29 of the nation's leading behaviorists." Not exactly. The group of 29 is actually called the Behavioral Economics Roundtable, based in the Russell Sage Foundation in Washington, DC. It is a self-selecting, self-perpetuating group, just like Cecil Rhodes' Round Table. Most of the names in this report are members.

But what is the Russell Sage Foundation? As we have documented over the years, and as is reprised below, it has been an arm of the British Fabian Society ever since its foundation in 1907. What is the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation? Mussolini-lover Sloan was chosen as CEO of General Motors in 1923 by the pro-fascists of the J.P. Morgan bank and of DuPont. He founded the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in 1934, the same year that he founded the American Liberty League with John J. Raskob. The Liberty League tried to get rid of Roosevelt, while their propaganda favored Mussolini and Hitler.

Summers, The Criminal Clique and the Booth School

April 18, 2009 (LPAC)—Obama economic adviser Lawrence Summers' praise for Milton Friedman and Friedrich von Hayek as "penetrating" thinkers and leaders of economic thought, points to the true nature of the "behavioral economics" clique through which Summers and his cohorts have captured control of U.S. economic policy.

The clique's power center appears to be the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, American home for the world empire model of the dope-dealing British East India Company.

Famous Booth School Professors include the following "behavioral economists," current participants in the Summers clique:

** Gary Becker, a leading advocate for legalizing narcotics, and for imposing fascist austerity measures on Mexico and South America, on the model of Becker's guru, the late Milton Friedman, a drug-legalizer and the most famous booth School professor. Becker is a former president of the British empire' bankers-dictatorship group, Mont Pelerin Society, founded by University of Chicago economist Friedrich von Hayek

** Austan Goolsbee, chief economics adviser to Barack Obama's 2008 Presidential campaign. Goolsbee has eulogized Friedman and the economic results of Friedman's fascist Pinochet regime in Chile.

** Steven Levitt, author of Freakonomics.

** Kevin M. Murphy, Gary Becker's co-author of a major paper calling for legalizing narcotics. The paper was sponsored by the Hoover Institution Project on Drugs, associated with the leadership of George Shultz.

** Richard Thaler, considered "the father of behavioral finance," who coordinated the financial establishment's funding and shaping of the clique, around the work of brainwasher / psychologist Daniel Kahneman. Thaler runs a multi-billion-dollar private equity fund with Kahneman on the board. Thaler and former University of Chicago Professor Cass Sunstein co-authored the behavioral economics propaganda book, Nudge. President Obama has chosen Sunstein as Regulatory Czar to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs).

** Robert W. Vishny, behavioralist, Andrei Shleifer's partner in LSV Asset Management, founded in 1994 while Shleifer was looting Russia; co-author with Shleifer of the 1993 paper, "Corruption." Vishny heads the Corporate Finance program in the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Richard Thaler and other clique members run the NBER's "behavioral economics" program.

Former professors at the Booth School include

** Myron Scholes, co-originator of the Black-Scholes options pricing model which helped produce the derivatives bubble that destroyed the world economy.

** George Shultz, economist and former dean of the Booth School, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury (and Secretary of State), fanatical drug legalizer; Shultz co-created the Pinochet dictatorship and was instrumental in breaking the former Bretton Woods System in 1971.

** Robert Fogarty, Nobel Prize winner, taught that black slavery was efficient and productive, while railroads were counter-productive.

The Becker Center on price theory, founded by Milton Friedman at the University of Chicago, is now named for the pro-fascist "behavioral economist" Gary Becker. Among the four directors of the Becker Center are Harvard Russia-looter Andrei Shleifer, former Booth Dean GEORGE SHULTZ.

In 1992, former Harvard teacher Summers, then World bank Chief Economist, sent Andrei Shleifer to Russia, to help Summers run the privatization of what had been Soviet-government assets. Shleifer was paid by the U.S. government Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Russian office of Harvard University' Institute for International Development, managed by Shleifer.

Summers and his agent Shleifer coordinated with Anatoly Chubais and other Russian government officials, on the British-Mont Pelerin Society program to crush Russia's industrial power and set it up to be looted by gangsters and speculators. Shleifer, his wife and their confederates acquired assets privatized under Shleifer's direction, hid and laundered the loot. U.S. authorities sued Shleifer and Harvard for their looting conspiracy, the USAID/Harvard program was shut down. Though Harvard and Shleifer agreed to repay tens of millions of dollars the U.S. government had sunk into the collapsed Moscow program, Summers returned to Harvard as the University's president in 2001 and blocked any investigation of his and Shleifer's devastation of Russia.

In 1993, while Professor Shleifer was gorging himself on Russian bonds and other loot, he co-authored with University of Chicago Booth School of Business "behavioral economist" Robert Vishny, a paper entitled "Corruption" (MIT Press), which explained how government corruption takes place, how people get away with it.

In 1994, Professors Shleifer and Vishny set up an asset management fund back in the United States, whose relationship to the Russia looting is unknown. Vishny runs the fund (LSV Asset Management) today, with $40 billion in managed assets.

Shleifer remains a wealthy Harvard professor; his wife is running the private equity operation from the 1990s; and Summers — rather than being in jail, runs America's economic policy, with his fellow "behavioral economists."

Googling Santa: In a world where people believe almost anything

Virginia might find herself visiting santaisreal.com, a project of the KRS Media Group of Orlando, Fla., which promises to send 10 percent of its net proceeds to help orphans and children around the world. Virginia might think, "Ten percent? Santa's a cheapskate."

If little Virginia was like most people, eventually she would gravitate to websites that confirm her own suspicions. Harvard law professor Cass Sunstein, in a new book called "Rumors," suggests that's why so many people today believe patently absurd things: Because they seek out other people who believe the same things.

"Rumors spread through two different but overlapping processes: social cascades and group polarization," Sunstein contends. "Cascades occur because each of us tends to rely on what other people think and do. If most of the people we know believe a rumor, we tend to believe it, too. Lacking information of our own, we accept the views of others. When the rumor involves a topic on which we know nothing, we are especially likely to believe it."

Ignorance virus

This may always have been true, Sunstein writes, but the Internet has helped spread the ignorance virus throughout the body politic. People who believe, for example, that President Obama is a Kenyan can find lots of validation for those beliefs by visiting sites that trade in rumors. You can discover that the Holocaust was a hoax and that AIDS was a government plot to destroy the black population.

Sunstein says research shows that the more you tell people that the facts do not back up their beliefs, the more strongly they cling to them. This is dangerous for the body politic, in that decisions are not made on facts: "To the extent that the Internet enables people to live in information cocoons, or echo chambers of their own design, different rumors will become entrenched in different communities."

Naturally, those who trade in rumors are worried about this, mainly because President Obama named Sunstein as head of the White Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. They envision a world of "truth squads" in which Glenn Beck, for example, would be held accountable for some of the stupid thing he says. His stupid opinions would be protected, but outright falsehoods would not.

Sunstein also has expressed the idea that animals may have legal rights that can enforced by the courts, which made him a target of pro-hunting and farm organizations. He's also written that environmental regulations should be subject to cost-benefit calculations, which made him suspect to a lot of environmental groups. The same cost-benefit calculations might be applied to end-of-life care, he's argued, which make some people worry that he supports euthanasia.

Indeed, there's almost as much about Cass Sunstein on the Internet as there is about Santa Claus, most of it inconclusive and subject to personal bias.

So if you're out there, Virginia O'Hanlon, I would recommend that you e-mail the letters editor. She would tell you that people believe in things a lot weirder than Santa Claus.

Re: WARNING: Top Obama czar: Infiltrate all 'conspiracy theorists'
What do you expect from a fellow that thinks your cat should be able to sue you in a court of law.

"Your Honor, the Plaintiff, Mr Fizzlewinks, does contend that Defendant did cause greivous harm to him by not letting him kill the pretty parakeet in the cage, further that he failed to provide the catbox with the clumping cat littler which he prefers. Furthermore, that he did introduce my client to the narcotic "Catnip Mouse" and once addicting him to this substance did withold such Catnip causing extreme mental anguish. We therefore ask that Mr Fizzlewink be awarded 1.2 million dollars in compensation as well as 3.6 million in punitive damages so that the PLaintiff may separate himself from the Defendant and continue to live in the manner to which he has become accustomed to."

No, Sunstein and the rest of his clan are not uneducated and they know exactly what they are doing/suggesting and how it will benefit THEM . It is the dumb goyim in society who are uneducated and clueless.

"Most dangerous man in the administration."?

Ahh, already has happened, already has been happening, and the source is less than desirable. WND? Really? But don't worry, most here really pose no threat and the government knows this. They wouldn't bother with this site/group anyways as there are plenty others that are much more organized, intelligent, and capable. But fuck, if you know where I can sign up to watch you guys and report back I'm all ears. Hahahahaha, I kid, I kid.
