Listen you tools......I've been unemployed for a year. Luckily, Ive had 4 interviews this past week. But I have to MOVE OUT OF STATE to take them. Doesn't matter, losing my home anyway. My UE benefits were cut off in JULY. I owe family and friends so much I need the feds to bail me out and I will be going bankrupt. I eat one meal a day, the rest goes to my kids and we use food stamps and food pantries. I don't have insurance on my car with 268k miles on it, nor is it running well.

But, I AM THE LUCKIEST BITCH ALIVE RIGHT NOW.

Know why? Cuz I'm on wifi, sitting next to a heater, about to eat some dinner, then go see friends and drink clean water and maybe a few beers, listen to them bitch like these other haiti haters, and then call my very healthy and alive children to wish them goodnight and tell them I love them.

My problems, along with MOST OF YOURS, are high class compared to MOST of the world's. If you are not a woman who just lost 5 of her children in a fucking earthquake, then STFU about being "helped."

Change your fucking attitude to gratitude, and you might see how much help the universe will provide for you.

All of you assholes bitching, go kiss your wives, husbands and children, get on your knees and THANK GOD you live where you do. It ain't perfect, but it's far from the horrors that are in the world RIGHT NOW.

You know, you're right. We take what we have for granted, we should thank God for what we have compared to the Hatians.

I do have a problem though with countries who hate us, sponge off us in times of disasters and not in times of disasters. Also folks who practice VooDoo, stay culturally backward and depraved. Just all the time putting the bite on us to the point that we have ended up ourselves not being able to provide enough for our own.

I mean, I understand helping folks in that situation, but you know that we ultimately will be despised by them and any other country who can't get a decent revolution going to rid themselves of the oppression that makes them dirt poor to begin with. Their leaders won't allow them to have free enterprise, most of them are set up to take OUR money and then make speeches about how they hate us. Most of the money will go to the corrupt leaders and not used for what we intended, to help those people.

I have a hard time begrudging people who bitch because they get tired of the paradigm that I just described. I also understand our need to respond to such desperation. I just think there should be appreciation that is translated into cooperation with us in some of OUR needs from those countries.

At some point, you just stop feeling sorry for those who hate us, don't try to live under free enterprise and get rid of their welfare states, and demanding that we be their sugar daddy. It sounds good to give and keep giving and not expect anything, any cooperation in return. But the reality is, we NEED cooperation from them. Other countries will not do as much as long as they see us stepping up first and stepping up always with the lion share of help.

I have had ENORMOUS amounts of compassion in my life. I have funded out of my own pocket (social security money from the death of my husband) to pay for homeless street kids... I housed them, fed them, and directed them to higher education. I did what I could to better my own community, and country.
However, I never once saw anyone from any other country offer to pay me even ONE DIME to help out .... NOT ONE DIME.

So, I have earned my right to my opinion, when I say that we need to take care of our country first.
When our people are housed, warm, fed, and educated...then we can spill our prosperity over to the less fortunate.

For me I simply trip and fall into money. No one ever gave me a cent, I just have that talent,I guess. I've found I can do much more good by helping those that I choose instead of choosing poverty and feeling helpless.

I see it as God made me manager of his money. When I do things with it that please him, he makes sure I get even more. He also loves me and wants my family and I to enjoy it as well. It's a win win this way...something to think about I guess.

I feel it's my moral obligation to have as much money as I can,without sacrificing health,family and morals. If I'm rich I can help many,many people. A rich man can still be humble.

It was about being a young widow on SS income..and using it to help out my OWN people..and at the time, I sure could of used some help financially. I didnt get not ONE DIME of help, and I was in dire need...... you think anyone in Haiti would have sent even ONE PENNY? NOPE>.. they didnt, and wouldnt.. and by the looks of the videos being shown on other posts here on GLP, those Haitians look pretty well fed and dressed.. and most were pretty calm.
Let their goverment take care of their own people. The people of Haiti have nothing to do with me, or the people of my country. We have enough problems in the USA without running to the aid of every little disaster that comes upon the world. When we have helped our own people FIRST, then we can have compassion on others.

I understand what you are saying, and I appreciate that you sound rational and reasonable (I am trying to calm down, myself) HOWEVER....it is NOT the citizens of a country that "hate" so much as it is the government. Just as we say that our media is whitewashed and geared towards brainwashing us, SO IS THERES. We are MADE the enemy by propoganda, and just like here, many others in the world have stereotypes, and false ideas of what an "american" is. No, its not fair. But, that doesnt mean that these people should not be helped. And they DID, they sent 36k to us (Haiti did) after Katrina. For that country, 36k is like 36 million. Poorer than shit, but they still GAVE to us.

I would just say this, to be cynical, I'd say that the money they sent was by the dictator who rules them as an investment for a future claim. So I don't know if the average Haitian gave it up, if so how many of them gave up a new VooDoo doll or a bottle rum for their fellow American Blacks in New Orleans? But I admit, I'm being cynical there.

I would just say this, after a few times of reaching out to give a hand up to those laying on the ground who then grabbed our hand and then stabbed us in the back. After a while you get a little cynical.
