Gov. John Kitzhaber signed a bill on Wednesday giving the state authority to license, inspect and audit stores selling marijuana.

Medical marijuana patients currently are required to grow the drug themselves or designate someone to grow it for them.

Marijuana should never be legal. I hope people are smart enough to keep this Satan at bay. An esteemed local pediatric oncologist that I had the please of speaking to in person told me that marijuana IS deadly. It's like being injected with a poison.

First you say it should never be legal. Then you say you hope people are smart enough to keep it at bay. But if people decided not to use it, would it matter if it was legal or not?

There are millions of people who do not drink alcohol. They don't need it to be illegal, because they choose not to use it. There are also millions of people who drink alcohol sparingly, and never to excess. At the same time, there are millions of people who will literally die if they don't drink constantly, day in and day out.

When alcohol was outlawed, these numbers did not change by much. The only thing that changed was the price of the alcohol.

The same applies to cannabis. The only difference is that alcohol actually is a poison, whereas cannabis is highly non-toxic. And those who use cannabis to excess have no threat to their life, although there is a definite threat to their mental health, as depression and anxiety surface when they do not have the drug.

The point, is that everything should be legal. If some people are not smart enough to use a drug correctly, or to not use it at all, they will have to deal with those repercussions. What they will not have to deal with is outrageous prices, which is what leads to crime.

Legalize everything, and the next day every single drug dealer in America is out of a job. Not to mention the prison population would be decreased by a very dramatic percentage.

But that would mean billions upon billions of dollars would be lost by those who seek to keep drugs illegal. Because an illegal drug is the same as a legal drug, but with a MUCH higher ROI.

I disagree with your "depression and anxiety set in if they do not have it". Weed isn't addictive..I can go without no big deal...daily use age but have been out for over a month no biggie...I don't like going without bc it does ward off anxiety I have for crowds that started long before my pot use...but I'm not anxious that I have no green...I'm not Jonesing for it...I'm not depressed either...people that have those issues had them prior to the weed and bc it is medicinal it helps, so of course the issues come back without it....the real point is it should be legal to explore your own conscienceness with anything so long as you aren't forcing it on someone else.

I suppose everyone is different. What is true for most will always be the opposite in a few. Chemicals change the brain, period. But I am glad to know that you can stop without any ill effects. As for your last point, we are agreed.

I think I should be able to eat, smoke, or otherwise ingest any plant I happen to fancy.

It's about time the world changes, and stops throwing people in jail because of a FUCKING PLANT!!!
