Russian Hackers Are World’s Best — Police Official
Russian hackers are the best in the world, a senior police official told a conference on cybercrimes in London.
Boris Miroshnikov works within the specialist ’K’ department at the Interior Ministry of Russia where he handles investigations into cyberfrauds.
Miroshnikov didn’t say anything new, the experience and skill of the Russian hackers has been known and acknowledged for several years in the international community, Softpedia news Web site reported.
However, the reason Miroshnikov made the statement was to point out the multitude of problems caused by these virtual space geniuses.
Miroshnikov emphasized the need to focus more attention on teenage hackers who go through a veritable school where they refine their hacking techniques and once they get older they become worthy opponents to any programmer in the world.
If until now all they did was to illegally copy CDs and DVDs, now every hacker has the ability to support himself and even obtain important sums of money by hacking into bank accounts or stealing personal information.
Speaking on Russia’s behalf, Miroshnikov called for the creation of a set of internationally applicable rules to allow the authorities all around the world to punish offenders.
Each year, the number of cybernetic attacks doubles and the first time authorities managed to stop the hackers was this year, but due to the absence of well-defined legislation their efforts were in vain.
Russian hackers have been accused of denial-of-service attacks on British betting sites, which highlights the need for an improvement in the security conditions offered by Internet providers.
