How do I ease my Christian Dilemma? | |
| Professor (OP) 12/08/2005 10:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What to think of this despair I feel? I could find some comfort in believing that any worship of God [coupled with the belief in Jesus as the Son of God being the Truth, The Light, and The Way] is better than none at all. After a while though, the glaring errors (as I see them) in the teachings of RC´s still wont leave me alone. I think it´s just knowing that this is resulting in more and more misguided people. I am not being melodramatic here - It´s a real dilemma for me. I sometimes feel like I want to march around the Vatican Square shouting religious corrections through a megaphone, (but I am told Italian jails are rather unpleasant places .... Just joking.) I guess I just have to get a handle on this feeling, or do I? |

| Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You are NOT alone in your thinking! Many of us have seen what you see. Don´t change. The Scriptures are clear on this, and it got me out of the idolatry of praying to Mary as though she could save the world...or me. The Catholic Church has some very idolatrous prayers to Mary, such as: Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy! Hail, our LIFE, OUR SWEETNESS AND OUR HOPE. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we lift up our eyes in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us and, after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Oh, clement, oh loving, oh sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Something´s very wrong with this prayer. Mary isn´t our hope. Jesus is. Mary is not our advocate before the Father. Jesus is. It is written nowhere in Scripture that Mary is Queen of Heaven. Nowhere! And saying the rosary will save no one, but only a life dedicated to living in the will of God through Christ by the act of repentence. So...there should be no "Christian Dilemma" for those who know the Truth. Glad you brought this up! |
| Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You need to read the "3Days to rise from the dead " thread. Everyone needs to celebrate the real Passover and be real Christians. Not just lip service ones. What Religious Days Did Jesus Observe? Every year millions celebrate major religious holidays that are found nowhere in the Bible. If we are to truly follow Christ, shouldn´t we consider which religious days He observed? by Roger Foster The last activity Jesus Christ shared with His disciples, only hours before He was crucified, was the biblically commanded Passover celebration. He had observed this festival annually since His birth (Luke 2:41). Accompanied by His 12 apostles for their final Passover meal together, "He said to them, ´With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer´" (Luke 22:15, emphasis added throughout). His intense longing to observe this Passover service reveals His deep devotion to celebrating it. Not only does Jesus—merely hours before His crucifixion—still regard keeping the Passover as important, but also, as He explained to His disciples that evening, He fully intends to observe it with them again when "it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God" (verse 16). |

| nv (OP) 12/08/2005 10:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Your real dilemma is that you see the problem with Catholics praying "Dear Mother Mary" but you do not recognize the problems with yourself praying "Dear Jesus". Praying to Jesus is idolatry as much as is praying to Mary. Professing that Jesus is the equivalent of God excuses you in your mind just as Catholics professing that Mary is Divine excuses them. |

Yes, but there are no mansions for these: Rev. 21:8 But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, they shall have their portion in the pool burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. Well, maybe a "mansion" in hell. God has said that He would not give His glory to another. That includes Mary. Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said: My soul does magnify the Lord. And my spirit has rejoiced in GOD MY SAVIOR. ...for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me BLESSED. This tells us that Mary knew she needed a Savior, that she would be called BLESSED (and rightfully so), not the Queen of Heaven or the Mother of God. |
| nv (OP) 12/08/2005 10:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here´s another obvious observation. The Catholics proclaimed Jesus as God. The Catholics also proclaim Mary as Divine. Why do you accept the one and reject the other? The Catholics invented Christianity for Pete´s sake. You´re just picking out certain aspects of this invented religion that you want to keep for yourself. It´s all bogus. |

Is that what you are saying?* - - - - - - Not at all! I am saying I am troubled by misleading teachings which are increasing the numbers of misguided Christians. It is not my place to say whether or not they are "dammed" as you say. If I had had to guess, I would say God would be infinately more annoyed with the individuals who first started to TEACH WRONG DOCTRINES than those who were taught. I worry that some of those taught could be affecting there own chances of salvation. Check this: [link to www.brow.on.ca] [snip] Having given Mary such great honor as a woman of faith, we should not give her a place above the eternal Son of God. When he was conceived by the Spirit in her womb, He was already the Lord, the Son of God. She was a virgin, but there is no suggestion in the New Testament that she was sinless. She was probably a woman of prayer before the miraculous conception. And she would have been the first to say that her prayers were addressed to God, and no one should think of praying to her.... Oh - and I have no idea who Lester is. |

None of us pretends to have the "last say", but the Scriptures are clear that it is not by bread alone that we live, but by EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD. There, my dear is the last say. Mary is not a goddess that one should pray to her. Period! Read the Acts of the Apostles. You will not find anywhere that Mary was elevated to a place of worship. Salvation wrought through the cross is all that was preached. It is all that we need. |

And so, it is with CATHOLICS, whether you like it or not. |
