Pope John Paul II was one of the most beloved men/icons of our time, and the people were just expressing their love for him, and the loss they felt at his demise. NO ONE ELSE has touched the people like he has, and tried to align many differing and even opposing factions together. You can BELIEVE that no one else will be shown such love and gratitude, ESPECIALLY not Dubya!

PS-Did you see him at the funeral? My eyes bogged out when I saw not only the ´shrub´ but his dad and Clinton as well. Wonder the roof didn´t cave in on everyone at that! You´re really a pill, you know that? And I can see that you haven´t done your homework on this one. Why can´t you just give the man credit for what he´s done worldwide? Just because he was so beloved doesn´t mean that he was ´opposite to the Biblical Jesus´, in your words. This man had a great love for EVERYONE, and truly acted in a Christlike manner, and was therefore truly beloved by all men/women/races. He did not proclaim himself a Jesus, but he was, in fact, THE POPE, THE HOLY SEE, which is descriptive of the representative of Jesus the Christ on Earth. More, the fact that he himself visited his would-be killer in jail and PARDONED the very man who tried to kill him says VOLUMES about him.

To me he epitomizes what TRUE LOVE FOR HIS BRETHERN, a truly CHRISTLIKE principle is and should be, and THAT is why he was so honored, loved, and grieved at his funeral. Many heads of the state WORLD OVER attended his funeral, and there were even Islamic religious leaders there, as well as Africans, Latinas, Polish, Americans ... EVERYONE. And let´s not forget how he helped to bring solidarity to Poland and to bring Russia into accord, and how he sought to unite all mankind together, IN PEACE. You jealous???

the plastered on tv news coverage got even catholic friends upset with the vatican. their words on it were, "they´re just doing this to get st peter´s square filled with mourners so it looks good to the world." they are non-conspirator´s also. they felt "ashamed" that the vatican would stoop so low. i found their views interesting.

John Paul, II, was a great man. Period. Get over it already. And there will never be another like him. The NEXT Pope will be the AntiChrist, and then you can make a real judgment and comparison and will see how wrong you are about him. If you´re still standing!
