Re: What is the meaning of the Yamaka/Skull cap ?? why is it worn ??? what is the theory behind it ??
It´s called a yarmulke (pronounced "yamaka") in the Yiddish language, and a kippa in Hebrew.

Traditionally the
yarmulke was worn only by men (women covered their heads more completely with scarves, hats, or wigs), but in modern times the push for equality between the sexes in the practice of Judaism has led some women to wear yarmulkes. Some Jews only wear yarmulkes while praying, making blessings, or studying Jewish religious texts; more traditional Jews wear yarmulkes the entire day, making sure not to walk more than four cubits without a head covering (especially outside).

The etymology of
yarmulke is unclear. Some linguists (e.g. Max Vasmer) maintain that the Yiddish word word is derived (via Ukrainian or Polish) from the Turkic yağmurluk, meaning ´rainwear´. Other linguists (e.g. Herbert Zeiden) regard this hypothesis as untenable but still believe a Turkic origin is likely, suggesting that the first part of the word may come from yarim, a Turkic adjective meaning ´half´, while the second part may come from qap, a Turkic word for ´cap´, ´shell´, ´enclosure´, or ´container´.

Traditionally, yarmulke is considered to have originated from the Aramaic phrase "yarei mei-elokah" (in awe of the Lord), in keeping with the principle that the yarmulke is supposed to reflect someone´s fear of heaven. Or perhaps, "yira malkah" (fear of the King).
dome means kippah, the word Hebrew

The source for wearing a
yarmulke is found in the Talmud. In tractate Shabbat 156b it states;
Cover your head in order that the fear of heaven may be upon you. As well, in tractate Kiddushin 32a it states Rabbi Huna the son of Rabbi Joshua never walked 4 cubits (2 meters) with his head uncovered. He explained: "Because the Divine Presence (Shekhina) is always over my head." While there is a minority opinion that wearing a yarmulke is a Torah commandment, most halakhic decisors agree that it is merely a custom, though one that has taken on the force of law. This is codified in the Shulkhan Arukh Orach Chayim 2:6.

Reasons given for wearing a kippah today include:

* recognition that God is above us,
* acceptance of the 613 mitzvot (commandments),
* identification with the Jewish people.

Some have a custom of wearing two head coverings, typically a yarmulke and a hat on top, for Kabbalistic
reasons; the two coverings correspond to two levels of intellect, or two levels in the fear of God.

"has it got something to do with the crown chakra"

That depends on the religious point of view one has, and which ancient texts they know about, but you´re close to the ´mark´ on this.

From Gnostic literature the covering of the head signified allegence to the ancient god Baal.

Baal´s followers cut themselves off from higher knowing, and learning, of God and made this earth the ´New Kingdom´.

In the ancient world they were known by their habit of covering their heads, which meant to signify that they had cut themselves off from, and were actually at war against, God.

Jesus was in fact condemned because he not only refused to cover his head but actually forbade any of his followers, especially women, from covering their heads.

Yarmulke

The most commonly known and recognized piece of Jewish garb is actually the one with the least religious significance. The word yarmulke (usually, but not really correctly, pronounced yammica) is Yiddish. According to Leo Rosten´s The Joys of Yiddish, it comes from a Tartar word meaning skullcap. According to some Orthodox and Chasidic rabbis I know, it comes from the Aramaic words "yerai malka" (fear of or respect for The King). The Hebrew word for this head covering is kippah (pronounced key-pah).

It is an ancient practice for Jews to cover their heads during prayer. This probably derives from the fact that in Eastern cultures, it is a sign of respect to cover the head (the custom in Western cultures is the opposite: it is a sign of respect to remove one´s hat). Thus, by covering the head during prayer, one showed respect for G-d. In addition, in ancient Rome, servants were required to cover their heads while free men did not; thus, Jews covered their heads to show that they were servants of G-d. In medieval times, Jews covered their heads as a reminder that G-d is always above them. Whatever the reason given, however, covering the head has always been regarded more as a custom rather than a commandment.

There is no special significance to the yarmulke as a specific type of head covering. Its light weight, compactness and discreteness make it a convenient choice of head gear. I am unaware of any connection between the yarmulke and the similar skullcap worn by the Pope.

I wonder if in ancient times the priests actually required some protection.

Radiation from the El, the Electrical, handling devices such as the Ark?

The first tinfoil beany?

On the other hand certain elaborate headdresses of the Egyptian and Sumerian priests might work the other way around towards an amplification.

The pointed hat of the wizard or the witch was at one time believed to enhance-- the Second Sight.

The dunce cap, a derivation, was actually thought to make the dull kid smarter.

Peace! The hat symbolizes 6 or equality which is the devils limitation. God (7) is the supreme being, black man. The Yamaka shows a devils (jew) humbleness and limitation to the black man. Musa which is moses in the bible set these laws for the devils (jews) in 2000BC. Musa was a black man. Peace!

Re: What is the meaning of the Yamaka/Skull cap ?? why is it worn ??? what is the theory behind it ??
I´m just guessing here, but I bet when someone posts the answer, it´ll be something stupid and neanderthal about penises. I say that because I read a while ago that the little black box that some of the trad jews wear strapped to the top of their head actually contains the shrivelled remains of their foreskins. That, plus the practice of the rabbi sucking a little kid´s dick when they do circumcision; it´s one psychotic, fucked-up, pain-based, sadomasochistic religion. So, my guess: it´s to make the top of their head look like a big dick.
