More than a week after an earthquake leveled swaths of the Haitian capital, recriminations are circulating faster than clean water.

From CNN to social networks, people are asking why relief can't come quicker.

The difficulties of negotiating the decimated Haitian infrastructure are clear and the logistical and administrative problems are formidable. But there could a perception gap at play, too.

The expectations of the virtual world may be colliding with the realities of the physical one.

Our world has become one of live video chats, overnight delivery and on-demand movies. It becomes only natural for such a society to bristle at delays.

But unlike information, medicine and food and water must travel via plane and boat and road and foot.
