Why won't my cat leave my side when I'm sick? | |
ajk User ID: 607393 United States 01/25/2010 05:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was sick and bed ridden for over a year. My husband and teenagers would hardly say hello or bring me water but the two cats would take turns, one would not leave my side until the other one came in to sit with me, they never left me alone for over a year. Animals can be more loving and compassionate than humans. The two cats were adult strays I had began feeding and they had not been in the family that long before they adopted me. Even strangers, be they cats, can be more compassionate than our own family. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 873994Wow, that's incredible. What I want to know though is why your husband and teens would treat you that way when sick. No one is perfect. A babe before walking will first stumble and fall many times but NEVER gives up until he succeeds. Always remember, ultimately, to never follow any person's belief. Your relationship with God is between you and God. If nothing else, remember this: religion = subservience, control and conformity, the same template as EVERY government "Most believers would kill truth if truth threatened their religion." L. K. Washburn "This crime called blasphemy was invented by priests for the purpose of defending doctrines not able to take care of themselves." Robert Ingersoll "If anyone wants to know how God feels, it's a warm light as if the sun is poking through dark clouds and lifting your spirits with pure joy." |

Dogs are attracted to happy or yang chi, and cats are attracted to depressed or yin chi. You can find the weak yin spots in the room based on where the cat sits. If the cat is in your lap, you might be a weakling at the time. |

If one of your family members is ill you worry about them, they do the same. They also mourn when a family member dies, some even die from the loss, they quit eating and just die of grief. |

I think it's wonderful that he does this. He is worried about you and loves you. I had a cat that did this. I had rescued him and he was near death. It took a long time to nurse him back to health. When he was better, if I was sick, he wouldn't leave my side. It really touched my heart. Animals are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. |

I've had my kiteh nearly all of its life, I adopted him when he was about 12, 13 wks old, a few yrs ago I suffered a miscarriage and before we knew this, I noticed the cat had taken to laying down next to me just staring at me almost like he felt sorry for me, this was a couple of days before I miscarried. Once the miscarriage happened, he kept sleeping on my bed near me but came a little closer and actually cuddled with me. He has always been affectionate and he keeps me company when I am down or sick, it's just incredible. |

What I want to know though is why your husband and teens would treat you that way when sick. I would like to know the same thing. You spend years loving and caring for your children and when grown they can turn on you in just a few seconds one day with a little brain washing and bribery. My husband was living a double life I found out when I got better this church leader I was married to had racked up 80K in debt, gambling, drugs etc, lying to the children and church to turn them against me to cover his own ass from being revield. I lost everything, including the kids inheritance from their dead fathers death from an earlier marriage. You know how it goes, people believe the liar over the truth, everyone fell for his con jobs and I lost everyone in my life and every thing I had even the two cats. I had to go camp in the woods for the next few years before I could get assistance, too sick to go back to work and no where to go after loosing the house I built with my own two hands, and all the debt he had left to me etc. The cats did not survive the wild. I saw so much hypocracy as the church helped this ass do all this, I think I might be athiest now. Too bad you asked, I answered. Point being human nature is bad bad bad, we see it everywhere. I have learned it is not how you are raised that makes the differance in a good or bad person, nor does being in the church. My question is what does make some of us good honest people when the majority are not? I got more help and compassion from the local drug dealers than I ever did the church, social services and the medical field. |

Cats are opportunistic predators. They'll stalk, pounce and kill prey if they have to, but they'll happily take their food where they can find it. They can smell when another animal is sick. And they'll hang around, in case that animal dies and gives them a free meal. Your cat does not love you. Your cat is hoping that you are about to become lunch. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 542729 United States 01/25/2010 07:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My friend's dog was very sick and dying - he took in an adult cat while the dog was sick and the cat sat by the dog continuously, never leaving his side. One day my friend stepped out for a cigarette and left his 6 year old son, and the dog and cat in a room together. When he returned to the room, the dog had died, and his son told him that the cat suddenly pounced on, hissed and scratched the dog at which point the dog died. He figures maybe the cat killed the dog by giving it a heart attack or something. |
