I am using a British Berkfield with the sterasol ceramic filters and 2 PF2 filter kits. It is a very attractive stainless steel, gravity based 2.5 gallon unit. If I was buying now, I would get the Berkey light for the simple reason that you would always know when to refill. You pour water into the top canister. By gravity it flows through the sterysol ceramic filters and the PF2 fluoride filters and fills the lower canister. There is a spigot at the bottom of the lower canister. Google em up. I am planning to add a steam distiller to my aresenal. Berkeys are great though, because they work without any power source -gravity only. |

Not too expensive. It produces 2 gallons in about 35 minutes. Don't get a distiller. The home units produce awful tasting water IMO. Anonymous Coward User ID: 874304 United States 01/26/2010 01:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Berkey.... gives you a choice of freebies with purchase of a filter unit, choose the fluoride filters and you're good to go. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 576059+1 for Berkey. Had it for 2 years and love it. Makes Chlorine laden tap water taste like fresh water from a stream. Special cartridges on the filters take out the flouride and the filters eliminate the chlorine and a truckload of other stuff. Missionaries use this unit in some of the poorest of water conditions. Best price I found was at [link to www.frugalsquirrel.com.] Or squirrels.com. Good people and great service 3rdDayRising |

Phil Harmonic User ID: 760572 United States 01/26/2010 01:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I tried the Berkey Light for awhile. It didn't remove fluoride and had an algae taste to the water. That's why I switched to RO. If you want to remove heavy metals from the water, RO is the best way to go.
