Quoting: Innocentwolf15 549832Yupik, cool. Yay Native pride. My mom died when I was 9 and my father really wasn't fit to raise my brothers and I, so we ended up in foster care. As soon as I was in my late teens I reconnected with my Yavapai family. On my fathers side I know I have Mayan relatives in Central America, but I haven't seen them since I left there when I was 2. The only info I have on his family is related to his German and Scottish relatives. No shovel teeth, ridges or bumps though. |

Quoting: alan LouBowskiwhat kind of evidence? seems hard to prove one's native american ancestry due to poor record keeping at the time. You can have your dna checked for native american ancestry. Anonymous Coward User ID: 877177 United States 01/29/2010 10:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm supposed to have Cherokee ancestors on both sides--maternal grandmother was supposed to have been full blood. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 808006Can't prove any of it because they claimed she was French, and did not sign up on the Indian Rolls. LOL Even that far back, my ancestors knew not to trust the government! A strong dominate genetic trait of majority of the North American/ and mexicain native americans tribes is any triangle projection on the back of your four front teeth, mostly upper. Rub your tongue along your upper teeth and feel a difference. Shovel teeth [link to www.google.com] Yes i also have those kind of teeth in the front, and i have yellow eyes which some people have told me is the sign of a halfbreed, though im not quite half at least i don't think so ..unless my grandparents were wrong about how much Indian they were. 1/8 osage cherokee no, the whites of your eyes will have a slight bluish cast. A friend of mine told me this , she is full blood Lakota Sioux |

She also talked to me once about seeing ufos and said she had a scar in her shin she couldn't explain and had lost some time on caming trips. She didn't say she was abducted but did say not to dismiss UFO's and Aliens. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 859394 United States 01/30/2010 02:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, I have the asian shovel teeth (that's what it's called) becuase supposedly just the native and asians have that behind the teeth. Quoting: alan LouBowskido the 'asian shovel teeth'phenomena prove a link between the asian community and the native american community? (i ask because i had this discussion with someone who claims native americans have other roots and other routes of origin.) other than the ice bridge alaskan route theory i ascribe to. OH, I have shovel teeth. There is a small ridge and my two front teeth are shaped like a shovel(on the inside). I am small fraction Ute. This is from my mother's side of the family and we have excellent teeth. We don't even get cavities, until late in life, but that's probably from sugar. My son has teeth like mine and he's 14 and still no cavities. |

Another feature inherent in the melungeon society is a sharp ridge or bone on the lower back of the skull. This is the only ethnic group that I am aware of that has these two features in common. Wow this is strange, because I'm part Ute. |

This was hidden until my grandfather died and his children came across the family bible with his birth certificate. Well, at least he thought it was hidden. His appearance made it very apparent, so everyone figured it to be so, but never spoke of it. Now my mother, aunt and uncles make a big deal of it. Amazing how that was an embarrasment at one time but something to be proud of now. |
