DND, RCMP mum on UFO mystery
People who saw a missile-like object soaring through the sky over a small rural community in Newfoundland Monday night are getting no answers about what it was, although police say they'd gotten to the bottom of the mystery.

Darlene Stewart spotted the object while taking pictures of the sunset over Harbour Mille, a community of about 200 residents on the south coast of the province. She says she started snapping photos.

She then called her neighbour, Emmy Pardy, and the two women, along with Stewart's husband, say they saw three similar objects flying through the air minutes apart, one up close and two farther off in the distance.

"I really did get sick to my stomach, I was shaking when I seen it," Stewart told CBC News Wednesday. "We were just in awe of what we seen."

The photos taken by Stewart show blurry pictures of what appears to be a long, round object, much like a missile, seemingly rising from the ocean, with either smoke or flames shooting out the back end.
Objects made no noise

Stewart said the objects didn't make any noise.

"We confirmed that it was something," Sgt. Wayne Edgecombe told CBC News Wednesday. But Edgecombe said he couldn't reveal what the police investigation uncovered.

He said the focus of any police investigation is on whether something criminal has occurred.

"It's nothing criminal," he said, in relation to the unidentified object.

Edgecombe said he contacted the Department of National Defence and "they gave me some info," but he said that it is up to that department to release the information publicly.

Defence department officials were refusing comment.

The sighting has intrigued people in the Harbour Mille area, with some saying they were told by officers who were in the community Tuesday investigating the sightings, that the objects were test missiles launched from the nearby French islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon.

Edgecombe said that rumour is completely false.

The suggestion that the object possibly involved the military has Liberal MP Gerry Byrne, who represents the Newfoundland riding of Humber-St. Barbe-Baie Verte, demanding answers.

"There's a credible body of evidence," Byrne told CBC News, "that suggests there's something spectacular happened off of our shore. Before this goes any farther, I think the government needs to actually respond very quickly with a straightforward, factual statement."

It could also be that they finally deployed one of our Canadian subs after a 4 year refit and numerous delays.

Or it could have something to do with this, whatever this is...

Just a wild assed guess, but its possible that the new or I should say old used sub we bought from Britain, to be deployed off the east coast, one of them at least, has finally begun its journey to Victoria BC (here where I live) where it will undergo a refit.

It is being carried on a big ship through the Panama canal.

So people are being sarcastic. In a positive way.

Someday they will have a brand new refitted super diesel submarine like the one we have on the west coast.

We have one on the west coast and they will have 3 on the east coast, to protect those codfish.(Both of them) and the lobsters (all 6 of them)

at a cost of untold billions of dollars.

Israel is practicing for their nuclear attack on Iran.

Dolphen class diesel subs, given to the IDF from Germany as Holocaust reparations, can fire nuclear tipped Harpoon missiles.

However, extensive work was done to them in the UK and joint training exercizes were carried out with a new yet too be disclosed missile system.

Many see it as likely a cruise missile, but perhaps they are trying out a new MIRV nuclear delivery system.

Israel owns the Canadian Parliament since the Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff accused Israel of war crimes for the bombing of a Lebanese Red Cross station in Quanna.

The Israeli lobby has put its entire financial weight behind the Stephen Harper Conservatives.

Now the French are "taking" the blame for a ballistic missile test gone awry:

[link to ca.news.yahoo.com]

PMO says mysterious sighting off Newfoundland is not a missile

Thu Jan 28, 5:30 PM
By The Canadian Press

HARBOUR MILLE, N.L. - The Prime Minister Office says there is no evidence of anyone firing a rocket near Newfoundland's southern coast.

"There is no indication that there was ever a rocket launch," Dimitri Soudas, a spokesman for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, said Thursday in an email.

But a Liberal MP is accusing Ottawa of failing to provide answers on the mysterious sightings from earlier this week.

Gerry Byrne, the MP for Humber-St. Barbe-Baie Verte, said Thursday he had received no further information on the missile-like objects seen earlier this week.

"The objective here should be to dispel rumours and conspiracy theories," he said from Corner Brook, N.L.

"It's not making any sense and nobody's providing any real answers, so questions are mounting."

Originally on Wednesday, the RCMP said questions about the alleged missile sightings were being handled by Public Safety Canada, which had no comment other than to refer questions back to the RCMP. Then on Thursday, that federal department referred questions to the PMO.

"The PMO has made a definitive statement, and I will not be adding to it," said Christopher McCLuskey of Public Safety Canada in an email to The Canadian Press.

The ongoing confusion arose when a woman in Harbour Mille claimed she was outside taking pictures of the sunset Monday when she saw something fly overhead.

Darlene Stewart said she then alerted two neighbours and they saw three similar objects flying through the air.

Stewart's photo shows a long, rocket-like projectile cruising through the sky with a trail of flames and smoke behind it, but it's difficult to tell how big it is and how close it is to shore.

A radio station in St. John's said a French media outlet reported that France had conducted a ballistic missile test in the Atlantic Ocean, but far from the area where something was seen.

No one from the French Embassy in Ottawa was available for comment.

A spokesman for the Canadian Forces said they were aware of the reports and have confirmed there have been no planned missile exercises off the seaboard.

"There's no threat to the security of Canada," Maj. Jason Proulx said from Ottawa.

Byrne said he's concerned for the safety of residents if missile tests are being done and no one is being told about them.

Interesting that the missile was "French" and not Israeli.

Consider the following in the past week's international news:

Thread: FRANCE VOWS TO STOP ISRAELI ATTACK ON LEBANON

FRANCE VOWS TO STOP ISRAELI ATTACK ON LEBANON

THIS LOOKS LIKE WAR IS REALLY ON THE VERGE OF HAPPENING...why would Sarkozy say that otherwise?

But remember that Sarkozy is a HUGE ZIONIST. A HUGE ONE. So his comments... don't really matter in real life.

[link to www.naharnet.com]

Sarkozy: "France vows to try to prevent Israel from bombarding the basic infrastructure of Lebanon, but not more than that," stressing to those he met on the need to "control the internal Lebanese situation and prevent any provocations," according to well-informed Lebanese sources.
According to the pan-Arab daily al-Hayat, Sarkozy stressed that "France supports Lebanon's independence and sovereignty," in addition to being a friend to Israel.

"However, France demands Israel to respect the sovereignty of Lebanon because it is keen on that matter, as Sarkozy told the Israelis," added al-Hayat.

France's Sarkozy: Israel could attack Iran soon

I call this provocation to get something going!

January 24, 2010 Israel Today Staff

France's Sarkozy: Israel could attack Iran soon

French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the weekend joined a growing number of world leaders convinced that Israel will soon attack Iran if diplomatic efforts continue to fail to bring the Islamic Republic's nuclear program to an end.

That according to a report in the London-based Arabic newspaper Al Hayat, which cited Sarkozy as telling visiting Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri that Israel "would not stand by while Iran develops nuclear weapons."

Sarkozy reportedly told Hariri that France has evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, contrary to Tehran's claims that its nuclear program is purely for civilian purposes.

The report came just one day after Sarkozy called on the UN Security Council to impose harsher sanctions against Iran for violating previous resolutions. He noted that US President Barack Obama and the rest of the international community had made great efforts to work together with Iran, only to be slapped in the face repeatedly.

*******
So France "threatens" to be a bad guy to Israel, and also threatens Iran by stating an attack on Iran is imminent.

Yet a desert camo painted rocket is launched from a sub on a test, and of all people, the French take the blame for it.

France is covering for Israeli machinations.

And Britain has modified the Israeli Dophen class subs.

The last time these 3 worked together was in 1956 and they attacked Egypt in a sneak attack and siezed the Suez Canal and Alexandria and the Sinai.

Nope!

China and Canada are growing closer:

China gives Canada its approval of sealFar from the outrage of Europe, Beijing fashion show bestows warm embrace

BEIJING–The fur didn't fly here Tuesday.
Instead, it strode down a Beijing catwalk without interruption.

The Canadian seal and fur industry brought its fashion designs to a premier Beijing fashion show yesterday, winning warm applause.

Had this been Europe there might have been cans of red paint hurled, incendiary banners held aloft, and outraged protest.

But this is China.

Here, where protests are banned and fur is popular, the show was a success – part of a larger strategy by the Harper government to work hand-in-hand with the Canadian seal industry to rebuild its challenged markets.

Canada was effectively thumbing its nose at the European Union Tuesday, the organization that banned the importation of Canadian seal products last year.

Instead, Canada has set about to woo the Chinese to open its gates to Canadian seal meat.

Shunned by Brussels, Ottawa believes China will do nicely as a replacement market and has tremendous potential, especially with its 1.3 billion people.

China already buys seal oil and fur from Canada. Meat would seem the next natural step.

And success might be at hand.

"We're very optimistic we'll be able to export seal meat into China," Canadian Fisheries Minister Gail Shea said here, following the fashion show featuring Canadian designs of sealskin and fur.

As she spoke she wore a ribbon of seal fur on her label, a sign, she said, of her support for the Canadian seal hunt.

There are two hunts per year: one in the Arctic held by Inuit, the other, larger one in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

More than 15,500 Canadians have seal hunting permits.

Shea said her delegation had good discussions with Chinese officials, as well as with importers who normally handle Canadian fish imports.

The Chinese don't normally eat seal meat. They have a small number of seals in the country, but they're protected.

Canadian officials said the Chinese would cultivate a taste for the delicacy – not a tall task given their prized and inventive culinary culture.

"We're now at what we think is the end of a process of formally lifting those restrictions (on seal meat)," said Mike Pearson, director general of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, who was part of the talks.

Neither he nor the minister, however, would predict when China will allow Canadian seal imports.

Shea arrived here Sunday on a 72-hour trip – her first to China – to attend the 36th China Fur and Leather Products Fair, and discuss fisheries' issues with senior Chinese officials.

But developing the seal market appears to be her priority.

"We'd like to expand the market," she said in an interview. "China has a huge population and very good potential as a market for Canada."

Traditionally the Chinese were interested only in pelts, but in recent years they've begun buying omega-3 oils. Now there is research into developing a protein powder as well as the potential use of seal heart valves for transplantation into in humans.

"This (latter) is an exciting project with potential benefit to the entire world," she said.

More and more researchers are looking at using the "whole" animal and they see "tremendous opportunity. Exports in Canada's $13-million seal industry were valued at $10 million last year.

A Fisheries spokesman said Canada exported $1.1 million in seal fats and oil to China in 2009, while an unknown percentage in pelts went to the country after being manufactured into boots and other clothing.

Canada has seemed much more aggressive about standing up for the industry since last spring, when Governor General Michaëlle Jean ate a slaughtered seal's raw heart while visiting an Inuit community near Rankin Inlet, Nunavut.

The event captured massive media attention at home and abroad.

Asked at the time whether she was doing it to send a message to the Europeans, Jean replied, "Take from that what you will."

Said Shea, "It was a great show of support for the Canadian sealing industry."

But no one has persuaded the EU to reverse its ban on seal products.

Today the government is appealing the European Union's decision to the World Trade Organization.

Israel gets two more German submarines

(AFP) – 3 hours ago

JERUSALEM — Israel has taken delivery of two German submarines ordered four years ago, a military spokesman said on Tuesday.

"We have received two Dolphin-class submarines built in Germany," he said, on condition of anonymity.

The submarines, called U212s, can launch cruise missiles carrying nuclear warheads, although when it confirmed the sale in 2006 the German government said the two vessels were not equipped to carry nuclear weapons."

The significance of the move was debatable, but it could be interpreted as a message to Iran and a demonstration of strengthening ties between Egypt and Israel.

Israel has signed a contract with Germany to buy two submarines capable of carrying atomic weapons, as world powers carefully weighed Iran's reply to an offer meant to end the standoff over the Islamic Republic's nuclear programs.

The Israeli daily The Jerusalem Post said Wednesday that under the contract signed in July, the two Dolphin-class submarines, called U212s, will be assembled in Germany and fitted with a propulsion system allowing them to remain underwater for far longer than submarines already in use by the Israel Navy.

The report of the sub purchase came a day after a Cabinet minister and former Mossad spy warned that Israel should prepare for a ballistic missile attack by Iran. "

N.L. woman who claims she saw missiles says area not used by model hobbyists

Fri Jan 29, 8:18 PM

By The Canadian Press

HARBOUR MILLE, N.L. - A woman who claims she saw three missiles whiz over Newfoundland's south coast dismisses suggestions the mysterious objects could have been model rockets and claims instead the truth is being covered up.

Emmy Pardy said she clearly saw three huge "grey bullets" powering through the sky Monday off Harbour Mille, a small community of about 150 people.

The reports set off a confusing dance between government departments and the RCMP over who was addressing the issue and what, if anything, was seen.

But Pardy said Friday that suggestions by federal officials that the spot is used frequently by model rocket hobbyists are ludicrous.

"Yeah right - I don't believe that for one minute," she said from her home overlooking the bay where she spotted the mysterious objects.

"It was no model rocket. ... You don't even have to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out."

She said everyone in the tiny coastal community knows everyone and she's never heard of people launching homemade rockets from land or sea.

Pardy and two friends claim they saw the objects Monday evening as one was taking pictures of the sunset.

Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams said he was concerned about the sighting, describing himself as a "UFO guy."

Williams said he discussed the issue with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and MacKay when the two men were in St. John's.

"They said they've checked everything within the defence systems, they've checked with whoever they could check with and they have absolutely no record of anything, for want of a better term, foreign, that could have happened there," he said.

"Something was seen. But from a Canadian defence perspective, I'm satisfied after talking to the prime minister and the minister of defence that there certainly wasn't anything that was being hidden by the government of Canada."

Calls to the RCMP and Public Safety Canada on Thursday were referred to the Prime Minister's Office, which issued a statement saying only that there was no indication of a rocket launch.

Canadian and French authorities have both investigated reports of rockets appearing off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, and have concluded there has been no military testing in the area.

"We can rule out any kind of military exercise," said Dimitri Soudas, a spokesman for Harper.

Soudas had said on Thursday that there was no evidence of any kind of military testing. But authorities in both Canada and France wanted to make sure, he said, so they looked into the reports further and found no basis for concern.

The French Embassy issued a statement late Thursday indicating that it hadn't conducted any military activity in Newfoundland or nearby St-Pierre-Miquelon at the time of the sightings.

But Pardy said she definitely saw something that looked like a missile and now believes someone is concealing the explanation.

"To me it sounds like they know what happened and somebody's trying to cover something up," she said. "Somebody made a blunder somewhere."
