It's a sad fact, but one in ten children is unhappy
They are meant to be the best days of your life.

But childhood, it would seem for many, is failing to deliver the joy implied by the old adage.

A landmark survey has found that one in ten children is unhappy, and most blame fighting within their family.

Recent family break-up is a key factor in making them miserable, the report by The Children's Society says.

Those living with natural parents are happier than those who share a home with step-parents or single parents, it adds.

Nearly 7,000 pupils aged between ten and 15 took part in the survey, the first large- scale attempt in Britain to measure the well-being of children.

* Boy, 14, shoots his parents dead because he did not want to do chores
* Girl, 10, accidently hanged herself with dressing gown cord as she danced to Lady Gaga
* August-born children are 'less likely to go to university'

Most grade themselves as happy, but up to ten per cent are 'significantly' below the average score of 7.7 out of ten, it found.

Translated nationwide, that means 140,000 children of the 1.8 million in the three year groups surveyed have low 'well-being' scores, the report concluded.

Children's Society chief executive Bob Reitemeier said: 'This is a major step forward in our efforts to understand and enhance the well-being of young people.

'It shows the vast majority are happy, but it is a major concern that two children in every classroom are unhappy, and that so many are insecure about their appearance and confidence.'

The Understanding Children's Well-Being report said young people's happiness depends heavily on how their family members get along together.

This indicates that this conflict is of central importance to children's well-being.

But the report added: 'Recent changes in family structure had a small but significant association with lower well-being among secondary school pupils.

'The average well-being of young people who had experienced a change in the adults they lived with over the last year was 6.8 out of ten, compared to the average of 7.5 for this age group.' Other reasons children are unhappy include disliking the area where they live, given as a reason for poor well-being by 14 per cent.

School work also makes 12 per cent of children unhappy. And one in ten is affected by what they see as lack of freedom and choice, as well as low expectations for the future.

Happiness levels tend to fall as children get older.

The youngest group in the survey, aged ten and 11 and in the last year of primary school, scored more happiness points than teenagers.

On average, they were marked at eight out of ten for well-being, against 7.4 for 15-year-olds.

'As young people get older, they tend to become less happy with their lives,' the report said. 'Between these age groups, happiness with many aspects of life such as family relationships and school also fell, but happiness with friendships remained stable.'

The survey, carried out by Ipsos Mori between April and July 2008, asked children to give a score out of ten on a happiness scale to a series of aspects of their lives.

The highest average marks - of nearly nine - were given for happiness with home, friends and family.

probably 4 in 10 people on planet earth are Un-Happy. I BET.

heres why

- deprived of natural foods fruits veggies and organic stuff grown with structured water.

We are as humans deprived of properly structured water- look it up- the molecules are usualy un-structured. But when placed near positive thought/ music= they structure into perfect three dimensional shapes... This then re structures our bodies... Making us a better/positive/healthier individual spreading it amongst others because everyone is made up of mostly water....

Then, we are deprived of pure air. We have chemtrails/contrails/and many other things polluted the air we survive with.

Also, we are as a society faced with negativity and feuding on a daily bases. Rather it be through TV , Movies, School, other people, news coverage etc etc WE see too much negativity and hear too many negative things- this reacts with our molecules and our brains.

Last but not least- we as humans are not that educated anymore. WE dont learn important things from birth like meditation- pineal gland importance- importance of being healthy and staying Pure- importance of spirituality and staying positive and loving... we are deprived of the very basics needed to survive for a long period of time in our bodies...

This info should be made common knowledge so we can lean towards making a better future... eating better and taking better care of ourselves and our environments because as of right now, we do Not.

That makes sense..we don't care anymore like the first poster is implying.

Let the Professionals raise our kids and dope them and brainwash them with everything that can kill their tender spirits

Grow up angry and the professionals will be well paid for their services
