I just watched the same hour and a half program.
Most was believable until I saw Whitley Streiber as the commentator or narrator. He strikes me as a dollar chaser!

They spent no time looking at this crusty rock or zooming in on features or looking for artifacts all they did was climb it,look at the jungle monuments they are all still intact somewhat these were just rocks without the computer picture you would never have thought they were monuments,im calling bullshit!

I find the monument and its location compelling.

I would have like to have seen better image analysis of it ~ only one shot where the lighting was in heavy contrast did it do the sculpture any justice.

Haha. Sucker! I tuned in only for the last 15 minutes. Long to realize the guy was batshit crazy. But you did get a great summary at the end of all the 2012 crap, including the galactic super wave theory so it was probably worth it.

What is even more interesting however, is that extensive internet searching yields no information whatsoever on this topic, other than links back to Jim Turner or the History Channel. Is this because there is simply no proof for History Channel's documentary or because it is being locked down and out from search results by the powers that be?

I live in Hawaii and there are a lot of "monuments" all over the islands. I thought they were just natural lava spikes but apparently the Maya came to Hawaii, too. There's an island formation called "Chinaman's Hat" that looks just like a Chinaman's Hat. Guess the Chinese came and carved that, too. And don't forget the famous "Crouching Lion" monument on the Windward side! Someone must have carved that because it's beyond nature to erode something that, if you squint at it just the right way, it resembles a crouching lion (or cougar).

Yeah. I thought about this also. That camera was already at the top of the "monument" when the first guy climbed up. So the cameraman was a great climber!
I wish they had taken more and better photos. The king figue is difficult to make out but the jaguar is obvious. This thing is for real and Mayans built it. The tie to "the apocalypse" is just for TV ratings...

The most lame part of the climb was the douche who went up second and you could actually see him kick off some rock on purpose like he was in danger of falling....
Some of the story of the Mayan culture and how they vanished was the only interesting part..The rest a total "reality show" waste of time

There was really good 2012 info in the show, but was hard to get to, since you had to make it through the painful and cheesy acting by those two "adventurers."

I watched it the first time it aired, and I came to the same conclusion as you did.

I ACTUALLY reached that conclusion by just reading the synopsis, and it was reinforced by watching the show.

besides the fact that the "monument" looked not one bit like a it was built by human hands, there seemed two very key points that were never addressed. 1) all around the landscape there are very sharp blade like mountains as the features of this island are naturally weathered into very dynamic shapes, meaning the first explanation that must be disproved before anyone talks about mayan kings is that the weather carved that outcropping. and 2) as they sit on the top of it saying that this would be the ideal place to see venus pass in front of the sun because the mayan king would need that extra height to see over the horizon, no one stops and asks why the mayans wouldn't have just gone to the other side of the island where there is nothing to obscure their view at all. anyway it is a silly silly show.

It was clearly a real monument the fog and rain and being on a remote island has clearly put its mark on this monument i personally believe their are millions of things out their like this that have yet to be discovered much like the temple in peru which for years and years everyone thought was a mountain until someone actually found steps and a door but they do not have permission to dig or uncover the temple.. much like in persia noone is aloud to did there.

This is probably a case where an overzealous explorer (was the guy an actual archaeologist?) deludes himself into thinking what is most likely a natural formation, is in fact an important Mayan monument!

There is absolutely NO evidence to suggest that the formation was a monument, except for the imagination of that explorer guy. Sure, the monument looks like it might of once been a carved statue, but then again, a lot of natural formations also look like they were once carved statues.

I can't believe the History Channel would do an entire show based on nothing more than one man's imagination. Now if they had sent an archaeological team to the island to dig around and find evidence, then that would be more compelling. Otherwise, this Apocalypse Island crap is sheer nonsense.

I find it interesting that some of our history is being kept a closely guarded secret. Why won't some countries allow archaeological excavations? Also, what was the name of the Peruvian temple you're talking about, or where is it located?

I had the same exact thoughts while watching it a few months ago. I was hoping for them to fall down off the monument and land on the jagged rocks below.

And for even more suck... the guy claiming to be "the first to climb" that big ass rock, was filmed from above. So who was standing there filming him and were they hovering so as to not have "climbed" it first too?

Apocalypse Island is next to Candied Island, which is itself located in the Secret Lemonade Sea.

coward i cant remember the name maybe i was wrong it coulda been peru or china, lemme do some more research and ill get back to you, im at work so it might take a while... but really its like even the jews wont let people into the of the chambers at a church that supposley hold the ark of the covenant.... but i know the story is true that either china or peru does have a pyramid that for years they thought was a mountain until recently.. i ll look.
