The double yolked eggs are taken out and put in separate boxes, since a lot of people find it off putting. The ones with chicks or little corpses are pulled and put in different boxes. Most places just use regular egg cartons but on occasion one of them gets slipped into the outgoing product. It isn't magic or a sign of the apocalypse, it's just a bit of misplaced work going out when it shouldn't.

But that whole carton had double yolks. I just thought it was peculiar but I ate them.

After a few encounters with the double-yolks, I asked the delivery driver (who also owned the farm) what caused it, and was told that immature chickens lay double-triple yolk eggs.
