personally for me, i think it has something to do with some form of moral detachment. For instance, if the actually see it in person its sick and uneasy to stomach at the idea of someone demoralizing themselves for $$$. I had to laugh at the news last night (I live in Georgia). This was actually deemed important enough to make the national news .. mom in Iowa arrested for pimping out her 27 year old daughter. Daughter arrested as well. They showed their pictures and stated it had been going on for years. Why is that such a shocker? Porn and prostitution are rampant.
