George Lamsa is famous for translating the Peshitta....

He contends that Jesus did not say "My God my God why has thou foresaken me" while dying on the cross....

Lamsa contends that Jesus said "My God my God for this I was kept" which implies an entire different meaning....

Matthew 27:46 is basically Psalm 22....

I personally am not sure at this point....


I am curious to Illuminators take on this issue mainly because he is an authority on the Peshitta, a book that I know very little about....

Likewise with me, Elf, it is one thing to read the words, but another to be able to ascribe definitive meaning.
To me, it implies covenant, a precognition of forecoming events.
Hard for us to see omnisciently, indeed, it can be hard to see anything. However, it occurred to me that as a "play on words" forsaken was added and the original words deleted.

We have seen that before, have we not?

Syriac-aramaic Peshitta version is not an original Peshitta text. It is an ordinary second-hand testimonies Bible with some small differences and written in a present syriac-aramaic language for orthodox syriac-aramaic Church needs. Original Peshitta was written from "Jesus" - Yeheshuah before AND after His Crux on Cross. In aramaic language and writtings. Contains 3/3 parts and/of 72 pages (3 x 24), of which 1/3 was written before Crux and 2/3 and 3/3 were written AFTER Crux. It was destroyed by "saint/s" Peter/Shimeon Kefa & Paul (of Tarsus)/Saul soon after that, because it doesn't fit with their (already false) agenda of "Christianity" and "Christ". True name of original "Jesus" - Yeheshuah teachings was Peshitta (Mission). And YES, "Jesus" has survive Crux and He was still alive then about 50 years, undercover in Silence & Solitude in a now-a-days Afghanistan land.
