You can't learn how to print the alphabets by chiseling a stone, lol, or using a stylus on wet clay, the student would either apply too much presure or not enough resulting unreadable scripts. Those who etched their sketch in stone learned the art of writing using ink and paper first.

The learning practice of writing is painstakingly long, like when you first learned in grade school whereby hundreds of sheets of paper were disposed in the effort to learn how to properly structure the letters, and this could only have been attained with ink and paper. You could have never learn how to compose the letters and form words by any other means.
