Which US airport has a reinforced concrete runway capable of handling any kind of plane in the country, a $14 Million hangar, a $7 Million control tower and an $8 Million radar installation?
No, it isn't O'Hare or LAX. It's the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport, airport, JST for short.
This disgrace of an airport has been sucking in an insane $150 Million in tax payer money in the past decade, all to serve a measly 20 passengers a day.
In fact, the airport really does not have any real right to exist, because the place is so expensive, that the government has to subsidize every single passenger flying in and out of JST with 100 bucks. That's right - despite the $150 Million this place already received, the tax payers still need to pay more just to keep it running.
The airport is not really an airport, it's more of a monument to honor the man behind its name - Rep. John Murtha. Murtha is the man we can all thank for providing the Johnstown-Cambria County areas with such a fantastic facility.
To make the joke even funnier, the airport was just allocated $800,000 in federal stimulus money to repave its alternate runway, just in case they ever get some more air traffic., or if its current main runway can't handle the heavy load of 6 planes a day (all operated by United Airlines on the Johnstown - Dulles route).
Folks trying to justify the place point out that the airfield also provides a home to several military units, but they forget to mention that all those units fly helicopters, not planes.

Congressman John Murtha (D-PA) was one of the Congressmen videotaped[6] in an encounter with undercover FBI operatives.[7] Although never indicted or prosecuted, he was named an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the scandal.[8] As such, he testified against Frank Thompson (D-NJ) and John Murphy (D-NY), the two Congressmen mentioned as participants in the deal at the same meeting. A short clip from the videotape shows Murtha stating "I'm not interested, I'm sorry. At this point..." in direct response to an offer of $50,000 in cash.[9]
In November 1980, the Justice Department announced that Murtha would not face prosecution for his part in the scandal. The U.S. Attorney's Office reasoned that Murtha's intent was to obtain investment in his district. Full length viewing of the tape shows Murtha citing prospective investment opportunities that could return "500 or 1000" miners to work. In July 1981, the House Ethics Committee also chose not to file charges against Congressman Murtha, following a mostly party line vote. The resignation later that day of Republican E. Barrett Prettyman, Jr., the panel's special counsel, has been interpreted as an act of protest.[10]
Mr. Murtha remained prominent in Congress, and was re-elected by his constituency 13 times over the course of 26 years before his death on Feb. 8, 2010.[11]

The FBI raided the offices of a defense lobbying firm with close ties to Democratic Rep. John Murtha (Penn.), sources tell ABC News.
The FBI raided the offices of defense lobbying firm PMA Group late last year, sources tell ABC News.
The FBI searched the Virginia headquarters of the PMA Group in November, according to the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. PMA was founded by former congressional aide Paul Magliochetti and specializes in winning earmarked taxpayer funds for its clients.
Good government groups have long criticized Murtha's cozy relationship with a handful of lobbyists and defense firms, ties that see millions of dollars in government spending go out from Murtha's office, and hundreds of thousands in campaign donations come in. Murtha has said his earmarking has helped revive his economically depressed district.
PMA is the second company with close ties to Murtha to be raided by federal agents recently. In January, agents from the FBI, the IRS and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service searched the office of Kuchera Industries and Kuchera Defense Systems, as well as the homes of the firms' founders. The companies reportedly have received over $100 million in earmarks, thanks to Murtha's efforts...
Politically, this guy was a corrupt piece of shit. Personally, didn't know him but I'm glad he's out of office. He was a disgrace to this nation, goodbye murtha. <

I take my job as a citizen seriously.
When I am unhappy with the political situations that affect me, I take action by contacting my rep and following up.
If everyone that is unhappy with the current situation did the same, would they cave under the public pressure?
What is going so horribly wrong with the system, and how can so many in office be so complicit with the destruction of a nation?
JOHN MURTHA WAS ONE OF OUR GREATEST CONGRESSMEN OF ALL TIME.
He was a GREAT person and opposed the Iraq War.
