I Will Be Doing My Civic Duty, Tomorrow (Jury Duty)
I have jury duty tomorrow, and I will be going without complaint or disgruntlement...why?

Because it is a foundational exercise of our freedom, for someone accused of a crime to be judged by a panel of peers in an open court, and not some dark, secret 'starcourt' full of elite or by judges on the take, who have no care for the common man.

Next time you get that notice in the mail, think about the justice you may help serve on someone, instead of whining or thinking of ways to shirk your responsibility.

You may not have the privilege in the future. Make a difference, now.

Jury Duty is one of the most important services you can give to your community. ON top of that, it is the ultimate opportunity to actually have a say in REJECTING laws you see as unjust.

remember, you are able to judge the law as well as the facts, regardless of what the judge says.
(that means if you think the law is dumb, you can find NOT GUILTY)
Judges usually tell you not to do that.

GOOD LUCK. DON'T FALL ASLEEP DURING JURY DUTY. AND SAY NOTHING OUTSIDE OF COURTROOM ABOUT THE CASE TO ANYONE.

LOL, I got selected for Grand Jury service. Which meant I would have to drive 2 hours a day, 2-3 days/week. I claimed a religious exemption from jury service & got it. Thankfully.

Yes, I understand that one. Grand Jury service would be an almost three hour drive for me...I don't know how I would be able to swing that one financially, but when it is in your own community, people should consider it a privilege to seek justice.

I have served on juries before, the last one was concerning a sexual predator whom we put behind bars for life, but even the little ones, like the woman caught trying to smuggle pot into jail, can be interesting.

It's also our privilege to refuse to plea, and thus refuse prosecution. But they will never tell you about that part.

I Do Not Consent
Thread: I Do Not Consent

If your serious, just remember.

The Judges instructions DO NOT apply to you, no matter what they claim. Sure if your sequestered you must remain so, you cannot talk about the case outside the jury room. Anything else is just the state trying to exercise power it doesn't really have.

You can not only decide if the defendant is innocent or guilty. You can decide if the law that they allegedly violate is fair. This is called "Juror Nullification", and you will never get on a jury if they know your aware of it.

For instance, if someone had some pot, but you don't think pot should be illegal. You can go ahead and decide that the law is unreasonable and find that person not-guilty.

You never have to explain it either, a juror never has to explain why they vote the way they did. Not even to other jurors.

Anyways, something to think about.

Clerk, United States District Court
IA

To whom It May Concern,

I have been summoned to appear for Grand Jury Dury starting in January 26, 2010. It is against my religious beliefs to sit in judgement of others. For only God himself can judge righteously.

Matt. 7:1-2

1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Luke 6:37

37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

1 Cor. 5:12

12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

1 Cor. 4:5

5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts.

Thank you for your time & your wisdom in granting me a religious exemption from jury duty.

Thank you for helping me out. When i had replied that I suffer from a few physical problems, they replied something like 'nope not gonna work' so I replied with relatives have been incarcerated...again, no go.
Finally the bible saved me.

I got one of those, I got a religious exemption because I didn't feel that it wasn't my place to judge whether or not they were guilty or not guilty. Only God can judge righteously.

If you really want to avoid your responsibility, try this:

"I don't even know why we even have a trial, if the cops arrested him, he is obviously guilty. Put him in jail and throw away the key."
