Twitter aand Facebook photos can reveal who, where and when a cellphone photo was taken
Previously un-revealed details of cellular phone tracking technology
have been discovered.

Cellular phone photos include potentially embarrassing private address
information.

Who took the photo, where is was taken, when it was taken and much more
information is embedded in the photo itself.

Most people are already are aware that cell-phones can track the
movements of people by use of GPS co-ordinates.
But did you know that your photos taken with your cell-phone also
contain exact details of where you took the photo, when you took the
photo and may even include your name !

Did you ever upload an embarrassing photo into a social-networking site
such as Twitter or Face Book ? Well this may now come back to haunt
you...

Using the embedded GPS co-ordinates, it is now possible to identify the
exact location of where each photograph was taken, GPS is accurate to
within a metre or two, making it possible to identify exact addresses,
anywhere in the world.

Previously un-revealed details of cellular phone tracking technology
have been discovered.

Photos taken on cellphones often include data tags that include GPS
co-ordinates of who, where and when the photo was taken as well as the
camera/phone type and includes many of the telephone settings. These
settings are embedded into the image file and are called EXIF TAGS.

SANS collected 15,291 images published on the image hosting site
Twitpix.com. Twitpix is frequently used together with Twitter. 10,000 of
these images included EXIF tags that reveal much information about who,
where, when these photos were taken.

An example of the embedded information can be found at

The tool to extract this information from photos published on popular
internet sites such as Twitter, Facebook etc can be downloaded from
[link to johannes.homepc.org] (two scripts, also needs
"exiftools" to pull out the data).
