Anonymous Coward User ID: 883716 United States 02/15/2010 04:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I stopped reading after the 3rd paragraph, because it was BS. I already heard about the new updates, and it clearly states that even if you have a pirated version of Windows 7, Microsoft is not going to collect any data that will identify user, etc. In fact they treat as if the user was sold a pirated copy, rather than they being the pirate themselves. Such FUD. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 890450exactly. And even if you decide to install this WGA update, which is optional. You can still use the OS, it just turns the desktop black( no wallpaper) and has a nag popup. easy solution don't install it. M$ isn't going after win7 pirates as strongly as they did initially with Vista |

SouthernLight User ID: 878917 United States 02/15/2010 01:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The whole MS validation thing gripes me to no end. I have a computer that never goes online... reserved for use with our telescopes. When I did a full wipe and re-install of XP it had to be taken online to re-register and 'validate' the OS or it would quit working in 7 days. WTF is up with that? Keep saying I'm gonna go to Linux, but don't have time for the learning curve involved... yet. One day I'll probably just get PO'd enough to Make the time. We know more than we know and understand less than we think. |
