DMSO
hello fellow glpr's I was hoping some of you could give me some information preferably first hand on the uses of DMSO. I have been using it for a while now as a carrier to enhance and deepen the effects of mms in the body to correct an imbalance in my system that doctors wanted to treat with a radical surgery and injections for, (its been eight months now and the imbalance and its effects are dissappearing , along with other conditions i didnt expect to heal!).

as a side effect i have noted and so has my chiropractor that muscel scars and damage i recieved in an accident four years ago have decreased and softened , so i began to use it as a muscel rub recently as well as bathing in a solution of mms with a teaspoon of dmso added. I know the FDA has a problem with it as it cant be patented so no money for them and its medicinal benefits have been hidden and funding for studys is in short supply, although there have been some remarkable studies and encouraging findings on the theraputic useage of DMSO before the FDA dropped it as an approved medication.

Does anyone else use this? and if so in what way and how helpful have you found it , any unpleasant side effects apart from the smell (a small price to pay for significantly reduced pain ) and mild burning when first applied to the skin.

like many people now i have little to no trust or regard for doctors who seem to be little more than legal drug pushers for the pharma companies and have turned to my own research and intuition to heal myself, so I look forward to hearing from anyone with any experienc with either mms or dmso . thankyou :-)

Re: DMSO
In anticipation of the horrible killer flu running rampant with so many deaths reported, I made up a "thieves oil" potion, using several potent essential oils. Included in the mix, I added DMSO, known for its penetration of tissue.

One night, I began a dry cough that just wouldn't quit. In desperation, I rubbed the "thieves oil" across my chest and up the throat every 15 minutes. Within an hour, all coughing stopped and didn't return. Blessed relief!

Am considering using it internally in half-ounce increments but, considering its penetrative action, going right into the cells, it's going to take a little more courage than I have right now.

As I understand it, DMSO opens the cells so that other good stuff can enter. It's supposed to be taken 15 minutes before the good stuff can be introduced to the open cell in order to destroy the bad stuff...like cancer cells.

One has to be careful that the skin is absolutely free of contaminants as the DMSO isn't choosy about what it carries deep into the tissues.

It would be nice for some who are using DMSO successfully to give the rest of us some advice.

Re: DMSO
In 1982 Dr. Thom Gaddis (author of The Birdman of Alcatraz) used to rub DMSO on his arthritic knee. Two years later he died from cancer of the knee; that knee, according to his sister. [link to www.imdb.com]

Some veterinarians use DMSO intravenously as an additive in large bags of lactic ringers, to help deliver medications through the cell walls more effectively, in horses.

Just remember DMSO is an industrial solvent. If you put the tip of your little pinky in a small glass of it, just enough to cover the fingernail, within 5 minutes the taste of DMSO will be in your mouth. From what I understand it wicks whatever is in the vicinity of it through the pores of your skin, and together they drift in your bloodstream. It could be a source of irritation, which like in the real life case of Dr. Gaddis, killed him. My suggestion is to consider other remedies first. DMSO is not a panacea, it is an industrial solvent.

My doctor says it causes brain damage and the patients who have used it have delusions about its healing benefits, none of which have ever been medically verified.

To each his own. I would not risk any thing that could cause brain damage, though.

Re: DMSO
I use it as a quasi-placebo and as a solvent to dissolve certain drugs for administration to test animals. The biggest risk DMSO poses is the enhancing effect it has on skin absorption of other chemicals. You may be using it to enhance the absorption of a chemical intentionally, but what about any other chemicals that could have been lingering around unintentionally? It has been shown to also have liver effects at a concentration of 8.8g/kg/day when taken over an extended period, but that is a pretty high dose. Neurotoxicity has been detected, and whether it's clinically relevant or not that's reason enough for me to avoid it.

Re: DMSO
I used DMSO with Cesium Chloride and a Oxygen Enhancer on my father who had stage 4 pancreatic cancer after using baking soda and maple syrup for the first 2 months. He did not want chemo. He died 3 months from diagnosis but he went in a much easier death than my mother who died from chemo with pancreatic cancer treated with chemo at Cancer Treatment Centers of America the prior year. She got 9 months from diag but the last 2 were hell on earth. We beat the cancer but the chemo killer her cells ability to hold fluid and she basically drowned.

Re: DMSO
When you use DMSO, be sure to mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with purified water. This will alleviate any burning and stinging, and instead you'll feel a sudden warmth as the water reacts with the DMSO, this is normal. nDispose of any unused mixed solution.

ONLY USE GLASS to contain and/or mix the solution. Some plastics will dissolve and/or release chemical components into the compund. Understand that DMSO carries itself as well as all other compunds it comes into contact with, transdermally directly into the blood stream. This is why it is extremely important not to mix it with other substances unless you are sure of the chemical reaction that will follow in the bloodstream. Essential oils are not safe, as they can react with molecules of vital components within the blood. It is not recommended that you use it anywhere near or around artifical implants, such as screws, stints, dental work, etc., as the DMSO can react with some of these materials used in these devices.

As with any compound that exists, the devil is in the dosage. Be sure to mix one part water to every one part DMSO, and be sure that you use a clear glass container and clean white cotton cloth (preferably unbleached) to apply the mixed solution.

My mother is a biochemist and has used DMSO for ingrown toenails, post-surgery sutures, pimples, and sinus infections. This compund has great anti-inflammatory properties and is non-toxic when used and applied correctly. Don't let people scare by using terms "industrial solvent," there are many naturally-occuring solvents such as this one that are safe for medical and industrial use. The trick with DMSO is proper storage and application. DMSO in gel form is not recommended for human use.

As for the guy who used it on his knee and developed cancer years later, it calls into question his dosage and method of application and containment. Heavys metal do not mix well with your blood and this compund. Anything this compund comes into contact with, with be transdermally introduced into the bloodstream.

Not safe for idiots.

A long time ago I read how DMSO is used in Mexico in swimming pools for the elderly crippled with arthritis. The article said it kept their joints flexible for up to 24 hours!! I do use it occasionally myself and find it does help for neck and joint pain.

Re: DMSO
There are a lot of good books written about DMSO.

I have read quite a few and have used it for a very long time.

I have found that if I apply it to certain areas of my body, like my back, it will help the problem but cause an itch for a very long time. Its annoying but not a big deal. But on all other areas it does not cause itching.

I use it and highly recommend it.

It was discovered in Russia, and is made from wood pulp, and has been known about for over 100 years.

If used wisely it will not cause any problem. In fact the FDA had tried to find something toxic about it, and could not.
It is reported to have been tested more than any other ingredient, and the testers were hoping to find some reason to ban it.
Nothing harmful was found.

People have used it on animals for a long time, but to keep it from being used on people, they required on each container of it to state that it was for not for human use. It was an industrial clearer, and all sorts of scary statements to keep people from using it and prevent them from treating themselves and not going to the doctors for their expensive pharmacy drug company snake oils and dubious pills.

Re: DMSO
Hello everyone! I was just researching the health benefits & treatments of DMSO & happened to stumble across this website/blog. I am no scientist or expert on this subject, but I've read about the effects of DMSO using double-blind studies & it seems to work amazingly! It brings oxygen throughout the body, killing pathogens, supporting the theory that pathogens cannot live in an environment well-oxygenated.

I was also reading up information on various essential oils (which practically no conformational information, like double-blind studies, have been conducted). I was reading up on the Oil of Oregano, & of the essential oil Thieves. Both essential oils have wonderful benefits. I found it interesting that Oil of Oregano has so many health properties! It's antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antiseptic, antibacterial, and much more!! Thieves oil was a very interesting read to me, it's a combination of cinnamon bark, cloves, rosemary, eucalyptus & lemon. The legend behind it is even more fascinating and took my belief in Thieves oil. Apparently during the time of the Bubonic Plague, there were four thieves who would steal from the plague-taken bodies but not get sick. One day a king caught them and told them that if they told him what kept them plague-free from touching the dead plague victims, he would let them go. They told him it was a combination of garlic, cloves, & rosemary.

Yup. That's intense right there. Okay now on to my problem or should I say, previous problem. Okay so I went to the doctor's because I thought I had a UTI (did cranberry pills a few days before my appointment & the symptoms seemed gone), because I've had the symptoms of one: burning urination, frequent need to urinate with barely anything coming out, & irritation after I urinated.
Well since I have done the cranberry my urine didn't burn, but I wanted to make sure of what it was because my other half had one too. Anyways my urine went in a cup to be tested and came back negative for UTI, but I asked the doctor if I could take antibiotics for it anyways (as a protective measure), and she obliged. She also asked if I wanted to get my urine tested for chlamydia & gonorrhea, but we discussed this & I couldn't have had either. Anyways I took the antibiotics which seemed to work for the days I was taking them (Cipro for ciprofloxacin) and a couple of days afterward. Well, a few days after I took the antibiotics my urination hurt again & seemed almost if not as bad as before.

This time I went to get my urine tested again, but for STDs this time. The results were negative, but in between finding that out my other half & I took D-Mannose with added botanicals. It seemed to be working for the time I took it and a little aferward...then burned again. Same with my other half; it burned when he was finished too. On top of that, I didn't finish my last dose of it because I broke out in a minor case of hives. Anyways, after the D-Mannose didn't work (it's supposed to remove E. coli from the urinary tract), I concluded that this UTI wasn't caused solely from E. coli.

At this very stressful and confusing point (the doctors didn't help & neither did antibiotics & D-Mannose), I bought Oreganol and Dr. Jacob's DMSO. Before I applied the DMSO topically, I tried Oreganol along with drinking a lot of water. The water helped more than the Oreganol, but I know Oil of Oregano is strong, but works better if directly applied to the area. Anyways I was growing impatient so I applied the DMSO one day in a weekend with my other half after we showered. We didn't apply it to our private areas, but we put it on our spines and lower back (I also applied it to his traps and shoulders) and did it work wonders. He could do pull-ups from a beam on our house without it hurting, I could grab a beam & pull my legs to the roof without getting winded, and I also caught my foot in the wooden couch and it didn't hurt (was an accident). Anyways we drove later to get water and the colors of everything around me were brighter and my other half and I had better depth perception & he could see better! Of course some of this was light sensitivity (a side effect of using DMSO).

Anyways, two days after the first application of DMSO we used it again, but combined with other oils. He used about 2-3 big drops of the Young Living brand Thieves Essential Oil, and I used about 9 drops of Oreganol. We rubbed the oil in first, and a small bit of DMSO on after the oils dried. My results weren't so satisfactory to my bladder, probably because the Oil of Oregano was diluted in oil and because Oil of Oregano could be an irritant). My other half on the other hand, had amazing results. The first minute or so after his application involving the DMSO & Thieves on the lower abdomen, he felt an initial warm sensation. As time progressed he felt a sharp pain in where he thought the infection was, it was abrupt, then it was gone. The best thing was it didn't hurt when he urinated after!

This was shocking to me, so a day later I tried the Thieves Essential Oil & DMSO combination. I used the same amount of drops as he used, rubbed it in very well in circular motions on my lower abdomen, then applied the DMSO the same way. Within the first minute or so I felt that initial warming sensation, then as time progressed into about 20 minutes I felt the warming grow into stinging, akin to that of minor insect bites, some felt like dull bee stings, and mosquito bites, but it was endurable and not that bad. The DMSO brought the Thieves oil right INTO MY ORGANS!! The best part was urinating didn't hurt after the second time I urinated after this application. I was relieved and amazed. Two days later I planned to do it again, and in between then my urination was growing a little irritated again, but not as bad as before, my other half on the other hand (who had only done one application) was handling well--all seemed good. On the second application of Thieves Essential Oil & DMSO I felt relieved and the irritation came back very very little, sometimes none at all.

I have just finished my third application of Thieves Essential Oil & DMSO recently & so far report a drastic increase in relief while urinating. I probably would have seen better results from the previous application if I hadn't drunk coffee & beer in between (the only time I messed up!). Anyways, right now I feel fine. One or maybe two more applications will most definitely give the final blow. My other half still seems fine with his only one application about a week ago. I still take cranberry pills and drink a lot of water in between though.

I didn't experiment with the use of pure Oil of of Oregano undiluted in oil yet, because I am scared of the more painful possibilities. I think it will be more irritating/painful than the Thieves oil and DMSO. Anyways, I totally recommend using DMSO along with Thieves Essential Oil for bladder issues! As an added bonus my usually infrequent bowel movements (about 1-3 times a day or 1 time every 2 days) became more frequent. I recently went 4 times in one day and was hungry all day! :) I think the use of Thieves and DMSO must have cleansed my bowels of some candida and possibly a few unwanted organisms.

If anyone decides to use Oil of Oregano combined with DMSO, let me know what for and how it went!
