Ok, since you're preggers... my ears rang like crazy when I was pregnant. Everything is just totally out of whack. If the doc says it's ok and your far enough along, you can take sinus meds. They should help.

When one is pregnant they have a higher volume of blood in their system. Thus, blood pressure processes change. Blood pressure can most certainly affect you in a manner of making a ringing in the ears.

Re: What does this ringing in my ears mean?
It can mean several things:

1. It can mean your blood pressure is off the scale on the high end.

2. It could mean you have a sinus and/or ear infection and there is pressure building up behind the ear drum.

3. It could mean you have had recent exposure to a loud noise. BTW most of us now days are exposed daily to loud noises, enough to cause perpetual ear ringing.

4. It could mean you have ear drum damage.

5. It could be the song of the nerves that connect your ear to your brain dying.

6. It could be Tinnitus which can have any of the causes above or be caused by something we have yet to discover.

However, tinnitus can be a symptom of almost any ear problem, including ear infections, foreign objects or wax in the ear, and injury from loud noises. Alcohol, caffeine, antibiotics, aspirin, or other drugs can also cause ear noises since these can affect blood pressure and also hydration. Dehydration can cause ear ringing if the vessels and tissues in and around the ear canal get dried out they deform leading to interesting pressures which the nerves pick up and signal the brain as white noise or a 'ringing'.

Most of the people here who complain of occasional ear ringing attribute it to HAARP, however I suspect that they are dehydrated since so many here tend to drink alcohol and large amounts of caffeine which leads to dehydration.

@AC893021 I'm healthy as a horse, I've had a physical recently. As far as nosebleeds, I've noticed some recently, but that could be due to my pregnancy.

Do you have hereditary hemochromatosis in your family? People with high iron levels can have ear-ringing. I noticed that you said you are pregnant - made me question that.

Re: What does this ringing in my ears mean?
Ringing in the ears is a symptom of many medical conditions ranging from the onset of an ear infection to dehydration to serious cardiac issues (such as congestive heart failure). If it continues, a general physical is in order, as well as an examination by an ear, nose, and throat specialist.

You're just chock full of good news aren't you.

I noticed cialis has a warning on it about ear ringing. Obviously not a concern for OP but I see a lot of these ringing ear posts and wonder how many use the drug. Just a thought.

Re: What does this ringing in my ears mean?
Just for the record, restless leg syndrome is real. My sister and I are often shaking our legs madly when sitting at all kindsof relaxed events. It can sometimes be really difficult to go to sleep with it, but I've found that a simple Panadol or Disprin before bed can help.

It means some of the little hairs in your cochlea that detect sound vibration are sending signals without being vibrated by sound.

I hear CONSTANT high-frequency ringing in my head which doesn't interfere with normal hearing. It never ceases, and it sounds like a 8kHz tone.

Re: What does this ringing in my ears mean?
I'm an audiologist. Several people have given you good information. It is most likely tinnitus due to nerve damage in your cochlea. Ear drum damage would not cause tinnitus. And sensory-neural hearing loss (nerve damage) isn't only due to exposure to loud sounds. If, as a child, you had a lot of ear infections it could explain your current tinnitus. But tinnitus isn't only caused by nerve damage. Certain medications, especially ones for high blood pressure can also cause tinnitus. The best thing for you to do is contact an audiologist and get your hearing tested including bone conduction testing to find out if you have damage in your cochlea. Hope this helps.

Re: What does this ringing in my ears mean?
All those people that claim they are earthquake sensitive due to ear ringing. Simply had one of the microscopic hairs break.

_______________________________________________

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

The organ of Corti has highly specialized structures that respond to fluid-borne vibrations in the cochlea with a shearing vector in the hairs of some cochlear hair cells. It contains between 15,000-20,000 auditory nerve receptors. Each receptor has its own hair cell. The shear on the hairs opens ion channels, leading to neural, electrical signaling to the auditory cortex. The pinna and middle ear act as mechanical transformers, so that by the time sound waves reach the Organ of Corti, their pressure amplitude is 22 times that of the air impinging on the pinna. The Organ of Corti can be damaged by excessive sound levels, leading to noise induced health effects. The organ of corti is the structure that transduces pressure waves to action potential.

OP, this condition is some how related to the times we are in. I have experienced this for 3 years, it turns on and off on its own. Is it something to do with the magnetosphere or what I do not know. I feel it is a good thing though. Maybe we are going through the ascension process, not sure really, I just know it is nothing bad.
