Not much of it left to be slapped around. It is dying.

I think this should get pinned. Not as a warning, but as a watch.

Pray to god we are at night time when this hits, for who ever is at day time may loose grid forever.

"filament of magnetism" sound quite vague and strange to me...in fact never heard this expression

So maybe it is a good thing that most of the east coast is covered in clouds and raining today :)

Not even close to doom, it will miss us for couple million of kilometers.

1) there is not telling if it will miss us
2) if it collapses, anywhere between NOW and 5 days from now, IT WILL NOT MISS US
3) no telling what will happen if it does collapse. Could be nothing, could be total grid collapse. Could be something in between.

BUT

-seeing our magnetosphere is a mess
-the Sun's heliosphere is a mess
-the current solar cycle is missing, a mess, and doing weird shit
-this is the largest one ever seen....
