That was a crucial step in human evolution, as symbolized by the alignment of Jupiter, its Galilean moons and the Sun. Men, for the first time after 4 million years, found themselves free from the tools that helped them to survive, to which they have been introduced by the Aliens in the last important step in the beginning of the film. HAL was the ultimate tool created by men. |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes, and of course the tools almost became man´s demise. Reminds me of the Unabomber´s manifesto, minus the bombs of course. :-) Too bad he killed people in senseless fashion, because TK actually had some good ideas (not unique of course) if you ask me. But I digress, as usual. I bet you were disappointed with 2010. I know I was. There was NO WAY to follow up 2001, and it should not have been followed up. I agree with you Idol, ´2001 - A Space Oddysey´ is one of the all-time great movies. My selection of golf flicks was more of a joke response (even tho I do love golf that much!). |

The final sequence was quite a trip for those days. I can barely understand it after having watched it at least 10 times. For the majority of people it was just that: an acid trip. |
