Huge bug invasion of crickets in Austin Texas

I would hate having bugs crawling all over me. Wasn't there a swarm of locusts that invaded a town a week or so ago?

Here in Southern Cali I hear more Crickets at night than I have ever heard...ever.....

It happens every few years.....but usually in the month of October is when it is at its worst.

Ugh. Just thinking about it gives me the heebie jeebies. Looks like I moved just in time.

San Antonio Tx here, and the cricket invasion happens every 10 or so years.

We have chickens and we live for the invasion! Hang a light inside the hen's house and they get really fat in a few weeks.

I hate bugs but crickets, not so much. Just hate stepping on them and hearing the crunch.

Texas is massive.

Is there anywhere to live there that isn't massively hot and humid, and has reasonable people in the neighbourhood?

By reasonable, I mean people who habitually carry loaded firearms?

Real crickets...have not seen many of those here in awhile. Atleast they are not spider crickets, I hate those things.

Yep, we have them here too. I stepped on one last night that was really big...

They are harmless but the chirping at night, when I am trying to sleep drives me crazy!

I was just in Austin for first time and when i was down on 6th Street and in the area, the crickets were everywhere. store fronts were trying to hose them down to allow customers to come in, hundreds of deads ones were laying around and one actually jumped up on someones shirt!It was the most disgusting and terrifying experience. I do not like bugs at all so I felt so uncomfortable, like I was under attack, not able to walk around freely...Then I get to the airport.. and those dam critters are in there too and all over the bathroom!!
