Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
You can replace "god" in your question with any other myth:
If you don't believe in Santa Claus, why don't you?
If you don't believe in the easter bunny, why don't you?

God is in the same level as any other myth
 Quoting: MaybeTrollingUAgain

I just knew someone was going to bring up Santa Claus aka Nicholas of Bari who was a very real person unlike the easter bunny that was a creation of candy companies...

Yes I do believe in Santa Claus but not like you do...
 Quoting: Masiro®

I rest my case then. How to argue in logical, sense with someone whom believes Santa Claus?!?!
 Quoting: MaybeTrollingUAgain

I don't believe in the Coca Cola Santa Claus....

I believe in Saint Nicholas of Bari, a very real person...

Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
Which begs the question of the laws of physics, either through the big bang OR God.

Where did the energy come from? You simply cannot bring into existence which does not exist. It's a zero sum problem, that does not equate once you interject something from nothing.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77315642

In the big bang theory everything comes from nothing...

The bible says that God Created everything out of nothing...

so the big bang theory proves that God created everything from nothing.
 Quoting: Masiro®

Incorrect, the Universe expanded out of a singularity, which is not nothing
 Quoting: mport81

No, the singularity manifold, flat, balled, with infinite density still consists of matter, ie energy. Where did it come from? The theories that are postulated ignore this for the equation to balance. You simply cannot.

Ask any Quant theorist and they will admit it. I work in a lab with these guys all day, for the mathematics to work you have to have "faith", no different than God in my opinion.

The Big Bang did not come from nothing, it came from a singularly, which is definitely not nothing.
 Quoting: mport81

Actually you mean a singularity...

The initial singularity was a gravitational singularity of seemingly infinite density thought to have contained all the mass and space-time of the Universe before quantum fluctuations caused it to rapidly expand in the Big Bang and subsequent inflation, creating the present-day Universe. The instant immediately following the initial singularity is part of the Planck epoch, the earliest period of time in the history of the universe.

Simple question: what created the initial singularity in the beginning of time itself?
 Quoting: Masiro®

Yeah, my auto-fill didn’t want to use Singularity.

There are many possible causes of the Singularity:
it’s the white hole output of some black hole.
It’s the result of a previous universes gravitational collapse.
It’s the result of the collision of two other universes.
Who knows. But just because we don’t know yet, doesn’t mean God.

That is called “The God of the gaps” . Using God as the only explanation for things we din;t yet understand

Wrong. That is not what big bang theory is. As all other fanatics you are very misinformed by your masters.

For me I have listened to The Bible up to Psalms. I find it interesting. I need to listen to the rest of it.

I have a hard time believing though because of all the bad stuff I see.

Take my Grandma for example. She believed in God and now she has alzheimer's. She can't even wipe herself properly.

Or take my mother...she has always been abusive. I have asked God to change her but she is still the same.

I also find it odd how people thank God...God didn't destroy my house in that tornado. However little Ms Betty house down the street is fucked...I guess she didn't pray hard enough.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The singularity theory assumes infinite density containg ALL mass and energy (variable X). The theory FAILS mathematically unless you account for presupposed X.

However, God does intervene from time to time.
A coward dies a thousand times, but the valiant need taste of death but once.

Fear cuts deeper than swords.

Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
Agios Nikolaos is the other name of "Santa Claus"

Believe or not I have done a lot of research into his story for some children's books I wrote years ago.

No you're right on target.

Nice thread, sorry you're getting so much flak.

The haters always attack anything that is of God.

That's all they know to do.

What if your God is simply an advanced race, who they themselves believed in God, who was nothing more than an advanced race...?

You can ask "what if" questions all day but I believe in real life.

I'm an engineer, I build things and looking at the complexity in our world and our universe, how it all meshes together in perfect harmony I KNOW there is a creator.

Period.

This world works too well for there not to be a designer.

When I was a child I studied "fractals" it was the greatest proof for me that God existed and designed everything.

I agree on the what ifs. No, you do not know there is a creator, none of us do.

Do you know how many flaws and engineering failures are in the human body. Or the simple understanding that all mammals have the same basic core structure with only slight deviations in DNA. So dont tell me that humans are "unique". We are simply the Cadillac model of all all neutral, generic models. Thus favored by evolution.
