(FACT_1) Oil spill clean-up workers and fishermen employed by BP are hospitalized after complaints of DIZZINESS, DISORIENTATION, FEELINGS OF FATIGUE, HEADACHES, NAUSEA, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, and COUGH.
(FACT_2) "Very high activity coefficients of compounds such as hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls and pesticides in aqueous solutions result in high equilibrium vapor partial pressures and thus surprisingly high volatilization rates." ( [link to .ngwa.org (secure)] A research paper by Senior Scientist, Paul D. Kuhlmeier demonstrated a useful "technique for quantifying the transfer rates of three petroleum hydrocarbons from an agitated tank to the atmosphere." In sum, the BENZENE EVAPORATION RATE DEPENDED ON THE ROTATIONS PER MINUTE OF THE TANK AGITATION.
(FACT_3) The surface wave action of the 74 to 80+ degree Fahrenheit hot sea-surface waters of the continental shelf of the GULF OF MEXICO IS EQUIVALENT TO A GIANT WASHING MACHINE. U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Pete Capelotti, working the BP oil spill, stated on a June 8, 2010 news video, "The ocean is a giant washing machine."
(FACT_4) U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports the following facts about EXPOSURE TO BENZENE IN AIR:
(a) "Brief exposure (5–10 minutes) to very high levels of benzene in air (10,000–20,000 ppm) can result in death. Lower levels (700–3,000 ppm) can cause DROWZINESS, DIZZINESS, rapid heart rate, HEADACHES, tremors, CONFUSION, and unconsciousness." [U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: [link to www.atsdr.cdc.gov]
(b) "Long-term exposure to benzene can cause cancer of the blood-forming organs. This condition is called leukemia. Exposure to benzene has been associated with development of a particular type of leukemia called acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The Department of Health and Human Services has determined that benzene is a known carcinogen (can cause cancer). Both the International Agency for Cancer Research and the EPA have determined that benzene is carcinogenic to humans." [U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: [link to www.atsdr.cdc.gov]
(c) "People who breathe benzene for long periods may experience harmful effects in the tissues that form blood cells, especially the bone marrow. These effects can disrupt normal blood production and cause a decrease in important blood components. A decrease in red blood cells can lead to anemia." [U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: [link to www.atsdr.cdc.gov]
(FACT_5) 2 + 2 = 4. (Apply this math to the above facts.)
QUESTION #1 FOR ALL MY FELLOW AMERICANS. What happens when massive amounts of Benzene from the BP Oil Spill continuously evaporate for months and months on end from the washing-machine-like-current-and-wave-action of the Gulf of Mexico's hot sea-surface waters and the vaporous Benzene makes its aromatic windward way to many coastal regions of the Gulf with high density human, flora and fauna populations?
CONCLUSION. My fellow Americans, BP's corporate negligence, executive and engineering stupidity, arrogance and affrontery has just hit the Gulf of Mexico with a long duration CHEMICAL WEAPON. This is a criminally negligent event of the first order.
The U.S. Government needs to immediately freeze or seize BP USA's assets the same way they would freeze or seize the assets of a terrorist group. BP's planned $10 billion cash dividend to shareholders can NOT be allowed to be completed, as this cash will be needed to pay to make the Gulf region whole over the next two decades. It is my assessment that, when all is said and done two decades from now, the total negative economic impact of this event will be somewhere north of 20 billion dollars (US$). Unless the U.S. Government takes action to freeze or seize BP USA's assets, and STOP BP's $10 BILLION CASH DIVIDEND, by diplomatic sway over the U.K. if necessary, BP will never be able to pay this sum to the U.S., as BP is destined to go bankrupt several years from now.
