[quote:Emmeric:MV8xMjQyMTU5XzIwMzQ1MjIyX0FGMjE5Q0E=] [quote:Khim] Calling a Constitutional Convention is an extremely dangerous endeavor, because the power to restrict a convention is not in the text of the Constitution, and if we start a convention, it could be hijacked by establishment insiders.
Oh, don't I know it. This is why I view the current state move to call a convention with cynicism. I believe the count is one state shy with a couple of states still considering. The fact that these states have not moved and there is little call for a convention by the states already passing a call suggests to me that the option is held in check by the system. [quote:Khim]The real problem is not the Constitution itself; the real problem is that the Constitution is being systematically ignored, violated, and misinterpreted. The solution, therefore, must focus on getting back to the Constitution, not “fixing” it. We must seek to reestablish Constitutional Law under this Constitution and restore the Republic which is currently missing from our little experiment in Democracy.
I absolutely agree. Everything you said there is exactly the issue we face, and that I have been harping about in my shorter posts. :tounge: However, getting our little rat feet up into that voting wheel and running for all we're worth with two parties specifically and baldly ignoring the constitution is not a solution. In fact, it is treason. The recent republican takeover (I was last a neocon multi-culti republican less than 5 years ago) even now is backpedaling on nearly every promise that got them elected. This behavior I would have once expected of only democrats, but I have been paying more attention. Both parties do this. Until the mass of people understand and then act in mass that voting simply perpetuates the corruption and non-representation, then nothing will change. Any voting will be corrupted. So even if a third party were to pick up simple-majority votes, I would not expect to see the equivalent elected. Enough fraud goes on just between the two parties that I know the fraud would escalate into a frenzy of unconstitutional abuse as the two parties then ally to repel the invader. We could say a number of my suggestions can't work (or won't). We can also say, if we admit to ourselves the truth, that voting cannot work either. Thus, I abstain to maintain my principles and moral dignity.
Original Message
Led by the partisan cheerleaders here at GLP, voters once again committed treason and selected democrats and republicans to replace democrats and republicans.
The democrats swept into power 4 years ago after a 12-year lock on both houses by republicans.
Apparently, the idiot voters forgot that during the republican reign, we saw the largest leaps towards a police state ever imagined.
Rights lost. Injustice rampant. Corruption unabated.
But, the idiot voters felt they "had to do something" and voted them back in.
Maybe things will be better this time?
Already, the republicans are backpedaling and the media is alerting us to the wool over our eyes:
We could be in for a volatile period where the House swings back and forth
between the parties
as voters vent their frustrations on whoever is in charge. Or the Republicans could learn from their past mistakes and, despite their no-compromise rhetoric, avoid the temptation to overreach.

Read that carefully. The whole paragraph.
Last night's election? Another loss for America. Thanks, morons.
