[quote:Anonymous Coward 1129165:MV8xMjQ1OTA4XzIwMzA5ODU4X0YyNEQ0RDY3] [quote:Anonymous Coward 1071882] It started when European illegal fishing and toxic waste dumping... your a fucking predictable apoligist eurotard you fucking liberal progressive piece of shit enjoy watching your country along with greece be the first dominos to fall in europe ... you deserve every bit of it instead of blaming your governments maybe you jerkwads should blame your selves for electing and supporting politicians for decades that created all your bullshit social welfare statists programs that will be your own fucking doom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The poster you responded to is correct. It was illegal fishing and toxic waste dumping by Europeans in Somali waters that kicked the whole thing off. The Europeans deliberately targeted Somali waters due to Somalia having no government to speak of. Without a government to guard the coastline, the Somali people took defending their waters into their own hands after they got sick of starving due to the Europeans stealing and killing all the fish is Somalia's territorial waters. I don't know how much the European government can be blamed for what happened, unless you consider the EU's strict laws forbidding overfishing and toxic waste dumping to be the cause. It was industry and organized crime that crapped all over Somalia. Gangsters ran the business of illegally dumping toxic waste. So, the Somalis armed up, because one of the opponents they were fighting was the mob. That's what started it all. In the beginning the so-called Somali pirates were really just a militia performing coastguard duties, but now it looks like they've graduated into becoming actual pirates.
They are believed to have been paid a record $9.5m (£5.8m) for Samho Dream, a South Korean oil tanker, and nearly $2.8m (£1.7m) for the Golden Blessing, a Singaporean flagged ship.
"We are now counting our cash," a pirate who gave his name as Hussein told Reuters news agency. "Soon we shall get down from the ship."
