Original Message In 1948, my great-grandmother didn't have any health insurance, something which didn't really exist yet, so they just left her to die without any healh care at all.

My grandfather recalls how he was sad having to watch his mother die in a very helpless way. He was only 18 at the time and is still alive today.

Back then of course, they didn't have the modern means to treat cancer, and poor people were often left to themselves to ''deal with the problem''.
