[quote:Anonymous Coward 1090326:MV8xMzI0ODQ2XzIxODcyNTUwX0Y0QzVCMEU1] [quote:Anonymous Coward 1236691] but if he ever masturbated or had sex, then he was a sinner and a sinner cannot be a saviour You are just doing like the Pharisees, you are putting human rules upon God to decide on this basis that God is finding somebody holy or a sinner, furthermore the values of a society which did not exist at that time. To come back to the story of Jesus and Mary M, I personally think this was platonic. There was a poster on this forum that had found informations that Sophia (who is said to have written the gnostic Gospels of Jesus in France), had been traveling forth and back between France and Israel a couple of times after the crucifixion where the resuscitated Jesus kept teaching for a couple of years after his alleged death. In any case, Mary M. is not known to be ascended and thus cannot be hold for an heavenly speaker. platonic??? very hard to be platonic at 30 years old no wet dreams? what about thought???? do you think that Jesus would have hanged around Mary M and never had a sexual thought? don't forget he was human. so even if he had a thought, he would still have been a sinner. god says that we are sinners if only we covet about having sex. If I only have to have a lustful fleeting thought about Sara Palin's breasts, i am a sinner. So if Jesus ever had a single lustful thought about a woman, he would be a sinner by teh same rules. And God emphasized teh fact that the only reason Jesus could be our saviour is because he was without sin
From historical evidences about Sophia, Jesus had hardly a second thought of Sophia at the time she was around, just knew him and no more. If the Mary Magdalene is the one whom Jesus loved and preached the Gospels of Jesus in France and from which probably the gnostic cathars originated, the modern love story about Jesus and Mary M. is not much historical. Thus there could have been another Mary M., wife of Jesus as rabi.
Jesus is implicidly portrayed as a man who was a virgin and never had sex.
But where in the bible does it say that Jesus was a virgin?
