[quote:Anonymous Coward 1261057:MV8xNDMyNTE3XzIzNTk5ODQ5Xzc5M0I2NkU3] [quote:Anonymous Coward 1261057] Did anyone consider this? There could be more going on here than another star system entering ours. Type Ia supernovae happen when an incerating white dwarf is accreting matter from a larger companion star. This takes place in binary star systems. The white dwarf may shed it's entire outer atmosphere before incinerating as we've deteted no hydrogen in these. A brightening takes place, then declines after about a month. Accretion disks form, similar to a blackhole, like the blue disk we see in these pics. We used to believe in astronomy that this Ia supernovae only occured with white dwarf and red giants. Modernly we know this type runaway event can occur in other types of binary stars as well. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/universe/supernova1a_nf_03.html http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/astro/snovcn.html
It could look like this after collapse: http://www2.ph.ed.ac.uk/nuclear/photo/xray_neutronstar.jpg
