Original Message When and at what point, and who gave the state or federal government authority over a given population?

Why must one recognize the authority of the state, and where is that authority derived?

Is the control mechanism not a voluntary one? I mean other than when it comes right down to force and bullying. Why would anyone in their right minds concede their own god given sovereign rights to the city, county, state, or federal government?
