This happened a few block away from my house.
The elephants sneaked in from Bannur, in the north-east, during the wee hours. Then entered the town whilst the city was asleep.
They must have become stressed out soon , and one of them , the male, started going berserk.
The people woke up to a shock. I was having my breakfast when I saw it on the local tv .
I dashed to the place, and there was a crowd there.
One of the elephants was hiding in the bush.
By late afternoon, they had put them both down via anesthetic gun. The elephants are , even as I speak , being trucked down back to the jungle.
The Forest department is getting a good rubbing down in the media for letting their gaurd down.
