Original Message ARIZONA’S DRUNK DRIVING LAWS

There are basically three drunk driving crimes in Arizona. First, it is a crime in Arizona to operate or be in physical control of a motor vehicle [including water craft] while under the influence of alcohol or drugs [even drugs prescribed by a doctor]. It is not required that you be proven to be actually "drunk" to be convicted. "Under the influence" means that the suspect was “impaired in the slightest degree". The focus of this offense is whether at the time of operation or actual physical control of the vehicle was the operator impaired.

Look at the graph partially down the page for punishment breakdown.

.08% or impaired in slightest degree =

Minimum Incarceration = 10 days jail, 9 days suspended

Minimum Fines = $250.00 fine X 80% surcharge
$500. prison assessment
$500.00 Dept Pub. Safety assessment,
daily jail costs approx.$55.00 aday,
Alcohol Screening costs,
treatment/counseling costs,
monthly probation supervision fees

Mandatory license suspension = 90 day suspension [30 day suspension with 60 restricted license may be authorized by the Department of Transportation]

+ Mandatory Ignition Interlock

This was not brought in to address a public outcry over people having a drink with dinner, look at the list of fines and you can see it's a blanket law to allow cops to shakedown virtually anyone,to drum up cash for a broke State.

This is the worst kind of abuse of power and authority for over a hundred years Arizonans have imbibed moderatly and driven home, now all the sudden this has become an intolerably pressing issue...Ask yourself why...

If you think it through...this will end all tourism nobody will go on vacation where draconian rules can impinge on simple social drinking or the taking of the medications prescribed to them.

If Vegas/Nevada tried this it would crash their economy within one week conventions would cancel and the place would turn in to a ghost town overnight...People awake enough to see this for what it is are already leaving AZ.

This is huge... much bigger the then the front yard garden story...flag this...Even Hitler, Stalin or Mao would have hesitated to institute such totalitarian measures.
