In accordance with industry accepted best practices we ask that users limit their copy / paste of copyrighted material to the relevant portions of the article you wish to discuss and no more than 50% of the source material, provide a link back to the original article and provide your original comments / criticism in your post with the article.

Original Message I think a lot of the negative karma being given out here on GLP is coming from members who are already in the red themselves and just don't care.

What if...
1)You have to have GOOD karma to give karma out.
2)Every time you give out a BAD karma you will use one of your GOOD karma points.
3)Members with over 50 BAD karma points are temporarily banned, which will remove 10 or so of there BAD points for when they are un-banned.

*Members are rating threads by using Karma points, this is not good.. Use the 5 stars to rate a thread.
*Members are giving bad karma to those who they disagree with, this is not good. Argue the point with them in the topic, try to disprove them or make your point or just move along.

I think this would help to clean the Karma system up a bit and cut down on bad karma being given out to good members for petty or irrelevant reasons.
