We just want to pass it on so He will receive the glory and people fleeing the storm will have a safe place to stay!
Be very careful! My wife and me opened our home to an "old friend" a number of years ago and the gesture is still biting us in the ass these many years past. What should have lasted a few months turned into.....well, lets say a loooooong time. Enabling is no longer in our repetoire.<---(and neither is spelling) Set limits and stick to them.
Thanks for the advice. There will be boundaries/limits for the duration of the stay. Obviously, when the storm passes they will have to go home. I don't consider it "enabling" when they are forced to evacuate because of an incoming natural disaster. I understand being broke and forced to flee...I see this as different than enabling a loser (no offense to your friend! lol)
I understand your offer is not enabling and as others say your offer to help is kind and noble. We were told this also back then. I just wanted to show the need for limits as you have mentioned above. Believe me when I tell you that "friend" would not take offense at being called a loser because as I discovered he was lacking a conscience. Best to you and yours.
I promise I won't make you milk a cow!
But seriously, my home is available for anyone too broke to pay for a hotel stay or anyone who just wants to ride out the storm with fellow GLPers. Let me know if anyone is interested! We are just North of Asheville. Plenty of room!
