Original Message Palestinians won’t accept a delay on a United Nations vote approving statehood, a top Palestinian official said Wednesday.

“We will not allow any political maneuvering on this issue,” said Saeb Erekat, a senior aide to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and former chief of negotiations, The Associated Press reported.

Abbas still plans to deliver a letter of application to join the U.N. when he speaks to the General Assembly on Friday, something he has made clear in countless meetings this week, Erekat said. Erekat spoke ahead of an early evening meeting between Abbas and President Barack Obama.
