India's government it moving to protect it's people. That's just weird compared to the broader world. I wish my government liked me enough to consider my best interests over the big money.
I agree with your sentiments exactly TouchyFelis! Here in Canada they ( the government ) let Monsanto take an older couple from Saskatchewan to court over having some of Monsanto plants growing on their property without having a contract to grow it... Turns out a neighbor growing Monsanto crops, spilled some seed along the ditch bordering the older couples property. It cost the older couple every cent they had to fight Monsanto... And Monsanto knew the truth about how those plants got onto the couple's property.... Monsanto doesn't give a dam about people. They want MONEY I never did hear if there was any conclution to this court case. this was a news story on CBC this year. If someone out there knows the outcome to this story I'd love to hear from you.
Monsanto don't want money as of yet.. they want to put every farmer out of business so they and there corporate farm buddies can have total control of the food you eat.
India has become a primary target for biotechnology companies like Monsanto and Cargill to spread their genetically-modified (GM) crops into new markets. However, a recent France 24 report explains that the Indian government has decided to take an offensive approach against this attempted agricultural takeover by suing Monsanto for "biopiracy," accusing the company of stealing India's indigenous plants in order to re-engineer them into patented varieties.
